Does anyone know whether I should be able to use my USB phone adaptor with VoipBuster as I do with Skype????
On the box it says USB to RJ11 converter.
And things like.....
FXO for PSTN call relays
1 FXS for regular phone
Thanks0 -

I have been using a headset but yesterday I bought two USB voip handsets on Ebay. The xlite menu has settings for USB handsets so I am confident your USB adaptor (& my handsets when they arrive) will work.

Gave up on that yesterday. Far too complicated to configure for little benefit (unless I am missing something).
I don`t really need a seperate number all I want is `Skype` with the ability to call landlines free too.
I have however found it much better using my digital cordless phone with Skype rather than being tied to the computer.
If I could get that to work with VoipBuster (ideally using the box I already have)(£20 ish from ebay), I would be happy.
Assuming of course that VoipBuster starts working at some point (;0)
Thanks again for the reply.0 -

There are several features that you must keep in mind.
1) Skype uses a proprietry protocol so if a user opts for skype, currently the user can only contact other skype users but if a VoIP provider wants to use the Skype protocol, unfortunately because the protocol is owned by Skype and hence proprietry, unfortunately the other provider will have to pay Skype.
2) VoIP buster uses 'SIP; Session Initiation Protocol', the protocol of choice by most VoIP providers. The use of SIP often means it's possible to communicate with users of other VoIP providers who also use SIP.
3) Currently I don't think Skype market any sort of standalone VoIP phone or adapter that plugs into a router. This is a feature of VoIP that is a must. You must be able to use the VoIP service as a standalone phone not requiring a computer.
4) SIP is to voice traffic as HTTP is to the www.
There's alot more to this than just the ability to make freephone calls. Even if Skype offered free phonecalls I'd still use a SIP provider because of the benefits above.0 -

It has considering you only posted it a few days back, and VoIP Buster has been going since around March, and there have been several other threads about their service over the last few months.
I have always been banging on about them, since I signed up with them from day one! It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Anyone tried to email them via feedback form on site?
Did you get a reply?
Got fed up of waiting for credit to appear on my account and decided to give it a shot.
How long did you have to wait for credit to appear??
Did you only get 1 x 1 minute free call till the credit arrived?
Thanks0 -

Never emailed them. Took about 15 minutes for the 2 off €1's to be credited.
I was able to make unlimited (landline only) 1 minute calls before I paid the €2.
