  • What customer service is needed?

    You get very good broadband

    You get very good speed

You get all instructions on how to set it up perfectly.

That's it. Any support you need can be found on this forum anyway! lol

What's angered many people is that despite experiencing problems, Bulldog continues to aggressively market its broadband products. However, that could be about to change.

Insiders, have told The Register that the company is considering pulling a major marketing campaign due for the autumn to try and ease the pressure on the ISP.

For while it has introduced measures to try and respond to customers needs, insiders say the current backlog of orders currently stands at around 20,000 against a total customer base of some 65,000 end users.

Insiders also claim that even though two new call centres have been set up to handle enquiries, half of the 10,000 or so calls being made each day simply aren't getting through.

It doesn't matter how you look at it. These are absolutely abysmal figures.

  • It says not what these 10,000 calls are regarding, as well as other information.

You can NOT believe these statistics without full backing of where they are from and what they are regarding!

They could be other sales calls or whatever, you don't know!

But yes I agree customer service needs to be improved, but if your on a tecchie forum with a lot of support, why would you need it?

If your service is not running, which is a big complaint from users of Bulldog. There is no advice anyone in these or any other forum can give that will get you up and running. Many people have been stuck with no telephone and broadband service after signing up with Bulldog. This is a problem that can ONLY be solved by them.

Also, it is a double bind - if you can't access the internet, how can you get advice from any forum, no matter how good??!!

use dialup - goto a mates house - go to an internet cafe - goto a library that gives free internet access
  • I would recommend plus.net - they are excellent, and you are able to change your download capacity, and if you need more then it gives you the option to buy it before you use it to make it cheaper. I am on a package that costs £14.99 a month and it is for 1mb speed, although, you can have 2mb+ speed for the same price, I just live in an area where we can't have it yet... and it is excellent. The customer service is fantastic too. They are so patient on the phone, esp when I was trying to set it up....
Can't recommend them enough. If you do opt for them let me know, or if there are any other questions just pm me.

I would highly recommend FREENETNAME as I migrated to them from Wanadoo. I know a couple of people with them and they have had no problems at all. There is 2 months free at the moment.

I notice they use bandwidth shaping on the £14.99 package meaning they slow down file downloads in favour of web browsing and email at peak times. How have you found that? It's one of things that put me off going with them as I couldn't find out how much of an impact it had, ie is it 5kbps - 20kbps slower or down to dialup speeds?
