Last summer we had our garden turfed but the bloke who done it totally messed it up as its bumpier than before so my daughter garden toys now wobble which isntr safe especially not for her climbing frame and slide. Weve been waiting for him to come bk and put it right but now hes ignoring my calls
Anyway now weve decided well have to put right ourselves as we want to be able to use our garden this summer.
As the grass is dead anyway under hwer toys we were thinking of using something else other than grass that would be safe to play with maybe bark or these http://www.littlewoods.com/rf/navigation/product.do?categoryId=7236796&productPos=33&catno=US31415&groupId=469735895
Does ayone know where I can get the mats from cheaper? Ive searched B&Q but couldnt find any. Any recommendations for or against whats best to use?
I was bit worried bark might stain clothes and get everywhere on the rest of the garden plus weve rabbits so need to consider whats healthy for them to run on

I dont think the ones in the picture look very nice.
Im created an area for the daughter and i think im going to go for bark as its easier on the eye. You could sto it getting everywhere by putting some edging round0 -
thanks, think well bark half then leave other half grass for the rabbits and ourselves lolWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

Have you found anywhere reasonable to but the bark from - i think you are meant to put a fair amount down0

I removed the grass from my back garden and flattened it with a roller. I then put fleece down to stop weeds and then covered it with bark and put my Grandchildrens climbing frame etc on it. The only problem I find is when they are in a silly mood they like to through the bark around! They can get mucky if the bark is damp but mucks fun.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

i tried jewsons, they quoted me £96 for play bark, its sterilised and is specially for play area. they said i need to make it about 3" deep. just trying to find a nice edging now as i want a nice garden for once. weve only a small garden and trying to work out how to arrange it so it looks nice and the rabbits still have some grassWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

Hi emweaver
1. there is no such thing as sterilised play ground bark!, the minute it is spread out it is not sterlised, birds fly over and may poo, the air has dirty etc in it. Bark by its very nature will break down and hold water.
What quanity is £96?
2. Is suggest you google lawnmats and play ground bark and see what that comes up with, I did for my kids and there is loads of lawn mats and play ground bark out there, it is just a case of how much do you want to pay for each item.
3. I also think that some of the major DIY shops do play ground bark in 'plastic bales' so maybe a trip to your local on / or phone call to see if they do it and how much.

what did you use in your playarea?
i just rang mu local diy shop and theyre going to call me back monday with a quote.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
I would just buy some from the likes of Focus and B&Q, they have 3 bags for £10.00 on offer about this time of year.
The reason I say this, is I have bark and with our lovely winter weather, once spring comes back around, half of it has blew away
It needs to be topped up.
There are nuggets you can buy (something like bark, don't know much about it)
I have spent nowhere near £100.00 in nearly 5 years on my bark and this is with topping it up each spring. My play area is about 6m x 4m. I used the fixed log edgings to keep it all together.
Poundstrecher have the weed fabric on offer, 2 for £5 or £6. Can't remmeber what I paid now.
Another thing to consider though, is when we get hot weather the bark dries out and the kids don't get a soft/cushioned landing
You might need to turn it over.
One thing I thought of after I done my garden was the cushioned floor, like in some parks. I have no idea of the cost though?:happyhear We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are placed here for each other.
If you are there always for others, then in time of need, someone will be there for you.
