................Does this make any sense? Or should I take it back? I have three days to decide!!

Isn't it a bit late to be still considering this? It is all explained on their website here. Depending on the length of time that you have had the BT line, you may have to pay an early cancellation fee.

    oooer

that data contract and the software update, does it mean that I can get internet with it, even if I cancel BT total braodband??

    yes

    still dim.

Does it mean that 3 becomes my ISP rather than BT?

    yes

Its still lyihg unopened in my car, in the carrier bag from Carphone W.... and I don't want to open it. Really feel like I was sold it under pressure cos I have no idea how it works. Or do you think I am being just a dimwit? Not really sure.....

    perhaps ;)

and if 3 is my new ISP and I have signed up to 18mionths, what do I do if the speed of access is poor.

you can't do anything I'm afraid

I feel as though i have been "blagged" my son's words

    A.

I know you are over your "three" days but I'm assuming that is once you have opened the box so I suggest you go back to CFW and see if you can return it and then do some more research on cancelling BT and what actual requirements you want/need.

yes it is a bit late to be considering cancellation and I know I should have taken advice.

I am still feeling a bit fed up about this and the damn thing is still in the carrier bag in my car..... I haven't been back to my work flat and don't need low speed internet access at home, just elsewhere...

I was buying a new phone for my son and the guy was going on and on about add ons and extra purchases, blue tooth, memory cards etc etc. All we wanted was the phone on a new contract.. and it was nearly closing time in the shop, everyone was leaving and we were feeling pressured.

Then he started on about the broadband and made me feel like I had to decide in a hurry, like it was part of the package of the phone.

I was shocked to have to sign a different contract for it, and really do feel as though I have been cheated somehow; even though it might provide the solution that I want, I just don't know.

Now, I realise that I should not have been put in a hurry to sign this contract, it had nothing to do with my son's mobile phone deal, I got a fairly useless piece of paper saying that they will pay me a cheque for £36 instead of taking 2£ off my monthly bill.

All in all I feel pretty stupid and am burying my head in the ground but I think what has happened is unfair. This was not a bundled deal and I was pressurised into buying it like it was. I bought it in Leeds, my son's university town, and its 100 miles from home, so not easy to go back.

I know you have been good to me already but I'd love any further advice...

    Yours, Anne

I would go into your local CFW and throw yourself at their mercy. Try asking for a manager to start with and just say that you felt you weren't told enough about it etc and were pressured into buying. I know what you mean as I asked about them in one shop, think it might have been TMobile, and the SA talked to me as if I was stupid and definately wanted me to sign up there and then, he lost interest when I said I only wanted a leaflet and funnily enough one couldn't be found.

However, as I understand it because you bought it instore you don't have the "cooling off" period that you would have had if you had bought online. The only answer then would be perhaps to sell via Ebay or your son could perhaps sell at uni?

Best take your head out of the ground and play the "daft lassie card" :)
