Have any children at university? Or know anybody else at one? If so you can use an Athens login to use digimap (hosted by Edinburgh University) and get brilliant OS maps from there. Used digimap a lot for my Planning course at uni (seeing as loads of you have been mentioning planning apps!).0

Don't forget that OS maps are subject to copyright, if everyone STOLE them, OS would go out of business rapidly, then there wouldn't be high quality mapping that supports the emergency services etc.
Do as a previous poster said and buy a legit copy online!!!0
