i bought some radiator driers from tesco. pack of 2 for £1 something. the hang on side of it and u then hang your clothes on the bars. their fantasic. also i put clothes onto a coat hanger and hang from door frame. and again i do put a clothes airer in the bath. i not to keen on drying clothes indoors. but i do have to do thi. i do have a tumble drier, but try not to use it too much. but on really sunny days i get as much washing done as poss. i have a straight washing line , and also a rotary line. so i can get about 5 loads in a day done and dried.

It doesn't look attractive, but I try to hang clothes in the windows. In the summer I can dry 2/3 loads in one day, with he windows open Even works with the windows closed. Can look like a washer woman's house though!

Another top tip I picked up from MSE was to iron clothes straight from the washing machine, they then dry quicker :)

I simply dry mine in the bedroom on drying racks. If they are a bit damp at night, I move them into the hall.

I also live in a small flat and have no garden. So I put the washing on a clothes horse in the bath for a while in case there is some dripping, then I hang it across some screen I have in the main room, so it gets lots of air circulating (my bathroom has no window).

Not very sightly, I know, but I tend to do my washing in the evening so that by morning it's dry and I can put it away.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

My best place to dry jeans indoors is over the bannisters. I hang tops from my picture rails which go around every room(mainly use the landing).I also have a small clothes horse in the bedroom.I dry socks by draping them over the pipes in the airing cupboard.Fleeces go straight into the airing cupboard on hangers and dry really quickly.
I always try and dry outdoors and sometimes soften things up by ten mins in the dryer so I dont get cardboard towels!;)

  • I live in a small flat too, and agree with quasar's approach by washing late and drying on a clothes horse in the living room overnight... my dryer can sit on the bath (with a little persuasion) but as there is no ventilation in there things can smell a bit musty! My hallway has been known to represent a laundry with things hanging off pictures and all and whilst it smeels nice it annoys! Oh how I wish for a garden and place to watch things blowing in the breeze... is that sad?!!!! :)

We hang clothes on a drying rack in the spare bedroom - then turn on a simple electric desk fan. Electricity cost a fraction of running a tumble dryer.
We've done this for years now.
Towels are still softer if tumbled from time to time.

When I was in halls I put some cup hooks in the wall and had a line going three times across the room. Then I was in a really tiny room and had really evil housemates who would have gone mental if I'd hung washing anywhere else in the house so I used the coin operated laundrette. The speed queens were ace! So fast compared to our crummy washer-dryer. I used a laundrette last year as well and got a service wash more to save time than anything. I used to take a big load in about once fortnight for £6. Now the cost of the laundrette has gone up and my finances are dwindling I use our machine. One of my housemates has a clothes horse which we all use and is a permanent feature in the sitting room at the mo and we also have airers on the radiator in the sitting room and kitchen. Tend to run out of room quite quick and end up with stuff hung over the backs of chairs and undies and socks spread out on the floor beneath the clothes horse. We hang stuff over the bannisters too. We have a yard so when it gets sunny and stops raining we can hang things outside.
