Most malls have an AT&T shop you may even find one at the airport. Should be very easy

I certainly wouldn't say that and it isn't like here where the phone companies give them away for free and they are nice and simple to use.davetrousers wrote: »It will be as easy as buying a PAYG here
I have tried to get a cheap PAYG sim only in the US with out success.
When I have gone in stores, (AT&T Cingular Sprint etc), and asked for free sim card only, they have no idea what I mean and only offer me a PAYG plan including a phone.
I just looked on the AT&T website and couldn't find sim only for $15.00 plus $15.00 credit. They only seem to have pre paid plans including phones. I would really like to know more details of these free sim cards mentioned on this thread because I would like to get one.
I have been using Virgin-Mobile PAYG in the US for years. You have to buy the phone and there is no sim card. It works ok and is cheap enough but the phones are what I call kiddyphones and are c**p. On my "plan" calls are $0.18 cents per min in and out. You can manage your account online and top up with credit card or paypal.
You can buy top up cards in lots of places too.0 -
Use the web to access T-Mobile USA PAYG phones.
My son got me a Motorola V150 for around $29, top it up with $15 and use the $1 a day plan. They charge you $1 every day you use the phone, but you can ring anyone in the States for free ! If you dont use it, no charge.0 -
I use tracphones that I bought from Walmart when I am there - they were recently $12.99 from Walmart and $29.99 for a top up card - 5c a minute mobile to mobile and really cheap to call the UK and Spain - they need topping up every 3 months (unless you buy a $99 top up when it is a year).
I have had 4 of them for 2 years now and I think they are fantastic value.:j0 -
I looked on the website at their " pay by the day". You cannot ring anyone in the states for free, only other T mobile phones. Their other plans also look expensive to me0 -
hi
I have taken out O2's ITS to reduce cost to 90p per minute (from £1.37) for making calls & 45p to receive ..... bargain
I guess buying a local SIM would be the cheapest option ?
Is this straightforward ? What sort of rates would I get ?
thanks
PS It's too late for me to get card in UK now as I'm flying out on Monday0 -
