I've just received a letter from RMA regarding my outstanding balance (and overlimit) with MBNA. Phone them up, and have to say he was polite enough, and suggested speaking to MBNA direct about the fact I'm about to start a DMP. Then got put through to a very polite chap at MBNA who updated my records and ran through everything that would happen next (That the DMP would be refused, and that the debt would be sold on eventually). So my experience was positive. Having said that, they'll be banging on my door tomorrow probably...DMP mutual support thread No: 2430

OMG Maz, can't believe they could copy signatures!
Good luck with getting back to work, I've applied for about a hundred jobs in the last couple of days, so fingers crossed... hopefully I'm not that unemployable! Don't really feel fit enough to go back to work but due to my worsening financial situation looks like I'm going to have to get 2, one full time and one part time. Don't think I could do 3 like some dfws tho!
Just an update on my RMA situation... I spoke to a lady at MBNA who was less patronising than most who agreed to suspend my overlimit and late fees for 3 mths, which is better than nothing I suppose!. The interest is still going to keep creeping up tho. Even though the lady agreed with me that I can't pay what I havent got I'm still getting calls from RMA from 8am to 8pm every day.... I had 18 missed calls from them the other day when I checked my mobile, when will they get the picture?!?
I think I'll take your advice Maz and write to them asking for them to only contact me in writing.
Ooh and a question for0 -
Oops pressed the wrong button... silly laptops!
I was going to say: Ooh and a question for anybody who knows the answer:
I rec'd a postcard from RMA saying that somebody was coming to visit me last week. Does anybody else see this as wrong?
If I lived with somebody else who didn't know I had debts/ credit cards I would find this method very embarrassing (let alone having the postie know hehe!). Luckily I live on my own but surely they should only contact you confidentially??
My family don't know I have even had credit cards and as they frown upon having these (for obvious reasons) it would be humiliating for them to find out via RMA on a poxy postcard....stupid people.0 -

Don't worry too much about this, emily. In the UNLIKELY event that RMA do send someone to 'visit' you, then that person will have about the same authority as a 'double glazing salesman'. He/she will have 'NO LEGAL RIGHT OF ENTRY - Peaceful or Otherwise - to your property. You will be under NO OBLIGATION WHATSOEVER to discuss the 'alleged debt' with that person, and that person/those persons MUST LEAVE IMMEDIATELY when you ask them too. Have a look at the OFT Guidelines which spell out just what they can and can not do:
http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/consumer_credit/oft664.pdfI am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
