That's a bit more than a white lie. You'll be very lucky not to be caught out with that one. I really don't think you should post such incriminating stuff on a public forum.

There isn't anything to link me from this forum I dont think, and if there was I dont think anyone would really be bothered to go to the effort of tracing me since I started 2 years ago (still a student with a fake self-cert) with an £86k mortgage, and £90k house and having renovated, moved, renovated moved... I now have a £58,000 mortgage and £110,000 house so even if my lenders found out Im not sure whether they'd really care too much.

Also, as I am being paid and taxed they'd have trouble proving mums company isnt employing me because they are, Im just not doing any work :rotfl: Obviously Mum will pay me, then I'll pay her back once mortgage is in place but by then I'll have graduated and will be in full time work anyway so it wont really matter.

Dont think its too bad a lie so long as everything is paid back and it doesnt affect anyone, Im only 22 and just trying to set up a stable future for myself and my son, and as a single parent my son only has me to provide for him and I dont want him to have the childhood I had without a pot to p*** in. I was the only kid at school who had a doctors appointment every time there was a school trip (cos mum couldnt afford to pay for the trip). Mums done well since those days, and me too, but it doesn't hurt anyone and I always make my repayments so I dont feel guilty

    The Fraud Act 2006.

    2 Fraud by false representation
    (1) A person is in breach of this section if he—
    (a) dishonestly makes a false representation, and
    (b) intends, by making the representation—
    (i) to make a gain for himself or another, or
(ii) to cause loss to another or to expose another to a risk of loss.
    (2) A representation is false if—
    (a) it is untrue or misleading, and
    (b) the person making it knows that it is, or might be, untrue or misleading.
    (3) “Representation” means any representation as to fact or law, including a representation as to the state of mind of—
    (a) the person making the representation, or
    (b) any other person.
    (4) A representation may be express or implied.
    (5) For the purposes of this section a representation may be regarded as made if it (or anything implying it) is submitted in any form to any system or device designed to receive, convey or respond to communications (with or without human intervention).

Trollfever, I am fully and wholly aware of what the Fraud Act is my mother is a lawyer. You will also be aware that to prosecture for fraud the owness would be on them to prove I have committed a fraudulent act and thats where it gets tricky, since I have pay slips, pay tax, NI, claim tax credits accordingly, the only thing I dont do is get off my backside and do the job. Try proving that though. Anyhow I dont want to go into the murky waters of discussing my personal circs, its not relevant and only brought it up to explain why I couldnt start remortgaging yet

A confession on an internet forum would be a good start - you may feel untraceable, but your IP number will have been logged. Any bored rozzer can contact MSE for your IP number & use that to trace the computer you have used. There are, of course, ways to make that more difficult, but you seem fairly naive so I doubt you're using them.

However, while you would need to be convicted for this to be a problem, I imagine the suggestion that a lawyer has been involved in this scam could lead to her being struck off, even without a conviction. Though perhaps the Law Society look after their own.
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

Ah Im just making all this up to ruffle your feathers :T

And my mum may be a qualified lawyer but she stopped practicing years ago so wouldnt matter anyway, plus my mother as the Queen of 'ducking and diving bobbing and weaving' as puts it.

As for my IP, Im piggy backing an unsecured WIFI access so would be pretty hard to find me

Back to the original question. Get a broker. I just used London & Country and they were very helpful and got a rate just under 6% for a 5 year fixed.
