    It's in material is that's all you got to worry about in life is someone using your work, that's besides the point. Before anyone says I got much more things to worry about but I wouldn't be happy if someone use my work, but would most likely just move on in the case of Ebay, if it was photo's that I took and they used them for other things then I would be extremely angry if they didn't ask or gave credit.

    However, people are varying views on this that doest mean to say that the person who did the work in the first place doesn't some how deserve to be annoyed about this, just because your views are different from there's shouldn't somehow devalue there own beliefs.

    Lets put it this way.You are chief exec of Coca Cola. You commission Satchi and Satchi for an add .they come up with "the New Seekers" to sing "Id like to teach the world to sing---La di da--Coca Cola. It costs you £10 million. Pepsi are that impressed THEY STEAL IT. All they do is dub out "coca cola" and replace it with "Pepsi cola" and swamp ITV with their adds. Their sales go up, yours go down.You have spent a big part of your advertising budget on making the add. They stole your add, so they can advertise more and steal your market share without the expense you incurred
    You then have to cut your price to compete and lose profit.
    Make sure all your pics have your ebay user name on them.

    I have to say it wouldn't really bother me if someone used my photo and description for a one off item I was selling AFTER I have sold mine. But I'd be a bit hacked off if they advertised at the same time as me and undercut my price OR if I was selling a lot of items like that and they set up against me.

    I think it just depends on everyone's individual circumstances.

    HI
    If you want to stop ppl using your pics use photobcucket.com or a similar online picture host.

    So when they do steal your picture all you do is change the picture to something else,.

    As for stealing the picture its just add a bit java script to your work its not foolproof but it will stop most ppl

    <script language="JavaScript">
    <!-- var popup="Sorry, right-click
    is disabled.\n\nThis Site Copyright ©2005"; function noway(go) !! if
    (document.all) !! if (event.button == 2) !! alert(popup); return false; } } if (document.layers)
    !! if (go.which == 3) !! alert(popup); return false; } } } if (document.layers)
    !! document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN); } document.onmousedown=noway; // -->
    </script>

    Oh so advertising on ebay cost you 10 million - nope I dont think so. Anyway Id have protected my ad under intelliectual property law. Perhaps you should do so with your ebay descriptions!

    You do not need to protect your ads under 'law' ebay terms and conditions are all that matter and they say you cannot use another users listings without permission:

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/copyrights.html

    If you go through the help system there is even a direct reporting mechanism to report other users that use your listing or photo without permission. I think someone has already posted that direct link on this thread.

    So, regardless of whether it is morally right or wrong, you should not use another persons listing info or photo without permission.

    No-one has said that "all they have to worry about" is stolen photos. You'll be waiting a long time - I can see you are not going to accept my point of view however much I argue. I, the opening poster, others on this thread and others whom I have read elsewhere all share it, so just accept that the rest of the world doesn't think the way you do and have a little respect for other people's sensibilities, please.

    I was just proposing that perhaps instead of getting wound up about something that really is not a matter of life or death and you just upsetting yourself to just ignore it and appreciate what you have in life. You should have put in you OP that you only wanted people to support your contention as opposed to what you could do about the situation which was in fact what you asked for.

    I am well aware of Ebays rules thank you. All I am saying is people get upset by such little things in life, there is so much upset and rage can people not just get over it. Whats going to happen if ebay remove the post - not a lot they will re-list and sell it again so does it really matter?

    Someone not only used my photo but they also stole my listing word for word right down to things like "I post fast, check my feedback etc"

    I WAS FLATTERED! Out of all those listings selling the same item, this person copied mine - must have been well written!!!!!!!!!!!

    All the posts complaining about someone else using their photos on Ebay,or even using their text....go on to use a previous posting in a "quote"......if that's not stealing someone else's idea to make your point clearer.....then i dont know what.....Please refrain from using this post in any replies.........and dont quote me........
