I agree Abbey are the best bank out there!!!!! The staff are always friendly and i wish i had changed to them sooner.
Still doesn't change the fact that their 10% ISA is just there to try and fob off a rubbish investment product on people who don't understand them.

When your first opinion is extolling the virtues of a bank on a thread that points out how crap their headline product is, your motives become a tad suspect.

Abbeylover you asked for horror stories about Abbey bank - how much time have you got? Nutshell version: I foolishly opened some accounts with them [details on another thread dissing Abbey] in January. I had 3 months of totally unbelievabe **ck-ups, I couldn't wait to close them all and get out, NEVER TO RETURN.

I would hazard a guess that abbeylover and triggerrabbit are posting from the same IP. Strange that they should both have such low post counts.

I wouldn't normally reply to a thread of this type as we all have horror stories about various bank, providers etc.

But, because of the suspicious nature of the pro Abbey faction, which most people are finding staged, I just thought I would give my experience of Abbey, basically as it is from experience not heresay, and based over a long period of time.

Over the last 30+ years I have had current accounts that my salaries have been paid into, numerous savings accounts, a tessa when they 1 st came out, then a couple of ISA along with my one and only morgage. In all this time I never had a single issue with the bank, no mistakes and no charges. I'm what I'd call a good customer as my accounts were, infact still are used for all day to day finances, and kept them well in the black. All transfers, direct debits etc have been fine.

I have accounts with N Rock, A&L, Standard Life and a couple of smaller bs.

The only one I have ever had problems with was Standard Life, and after the level of service I recieved recently from there customer services people, I am slowly transfering all monies elsewhere.

Not biased, just my own experience.

Just because i like a service or product does not mean that this is staged!! I am a new member on this site and wanted to express an opinion. I did not realise that to voice an opinion or statement you had to have been a member for a long time to post comments.
