Once they have processed the claim they should pay you for the 5 weeks you were single. If you are asked if you want to withdraw it you should say no as you would lose out otherwise.
Unfortunately you will need to wait again when your joint claim goes in and it may take longer than normal again to process as they need to send the forms out and then wait for them to come back before processing. Then they will have to clear up the fact you and the children appear in 2 different awards - the old one and the new one.
But again it will be backdated once it has been processed.0
