on the 1oth of march i advised tax credits that me and my husband had seperated, i was sent a letter dated 12th march telling me that the claim had stopped.
i havent had any money off them now for 3 weeks and tomorrow will be the 4th week.
i get 11.25 income support a week and some incapacity benefit, i am fast running out of funds and having to scrounge, i also have 2 children classed as severely disabled and have phoned wftc every single day asking them to chase up or what is happening.
most of the people i have spoken to have been very arsey and yesterday the manager told me to go to my nearest tax office and plead hardship, so i asked her how im supposed to do that with 2 disabled children who are off school on school holidays, she wasnt interested.
i dont understand what the hold up is as they say they have all the info they need.
they wont give me a number to speak to anyone and they say they cannot chase it up for me.
does anyone have any advice.
thanks

There may be a compliance check so calling up and complaining every day is not going to help.
I know it it a pain the !!! but there is mothing the advisers can do if it shows as having compliance interest - and they cannot tell you there is compliance on it.
There will also have been verification failures as you would appear in 2 different claims - they need to clear these before the system will set up your payments.
All they can do is advise you to go to your local enquiry centre to request a hardship payment which is not guaranteed.
They cannot give you another number because you are already speaking to the helpline - processing offices only deal with communication via email/referral/application notes.0 -
try ringing your local citizens advice bureau
There are usually certain times when the lines are open
You can find your local CAB details here

what is a compliance check?
i mentioned it the other day to the manager and asked her had i been chosen for one and she claimed to not know what one was.
surely the fact that i am a single parent with 2 severely disabled children would mean that they hopefully would process my claim, cos they told me they aim to process claims for single parents within 2 weeks.
if so theres nothing i can do about it, and thats so wrong.0 -
Well if the payments include an element of working tax credits and it was your husband that worked and you don't, then you'd not be entitled to working tax credits and it may be this they're checking.0

im confused now, cos when i went on entitled to it said i was due tax credits of over £100 a week.0

A manager would try to brush past the question about compliance because they cannot discuss it and are not meant to make you aware of it. If yo uare to be made aware yo uwill be contacted by a Claimant compliance Officer by post or phone.
They can be checking to make sure you really are single and not lying to get more Tax Credits amongst other things.
Unfortunately they process every claim with the same "urgency" regardless of your circumstances.
The fact that they now let those who have seperated from their partner set up a new claim on the phone is actually helping those people. It makes it quite a bit faster as you dont need to wait for the form to arrive then fill it out then post it back.
Do you not receive DLA for the children? I only ask as you didnt mention it.0 -
Hello jenrose,
Quick question... when you rang TC helpline and reported you and your partner had seperated did they transfer you to another team to complete application over the phone? If so these applications are normally in payment within 2 weeks, if not it would be because your claim has been flagged up as a compliance risk. Advisors/Team leaders cannot do anything if this is the case, this will be because a specialist team at TCO will be verifying everything on your claim, for example the rates of DLA you recieve for your children via DWP etc. I know it's not a consilation but your money will be fully backdated.
Regards
Hotblu
Ps, I knw it must be frustrating, but because TC is funded by taxpayers, therefore loads of red tape before claims can be put into payment.
Ps, I really hope it's in payment by tommorrow evening because after 6pm (I think) the systems are down for updates for the new tax year.0 -
i cant remember if they transferred me or not, but i do remember the woman telling me i was entitled to nursery payments as imon IB, i asked her to check this cos i didnt think that was right, she checked it and said yes you are entitled.
i kept my daughters nursery place thinking its ok cos they will be giving me entitlement for it.
yes i do get dla for both children, they are on high rate care and mobility and classed as severely disabled.
the manager i spoke to yesterday asked me had i received a letter dated 17 march and i told her i hadnt, she said something had come up when my claim was being processed but that they didnt require any more information.
thing is my IS has gone through and they told me they check all my benefits to see what im entitled to, now they did that within 7 days.0 -

when me and my hubby separated. They told me they were stopping the old claim and I had to make a new claim in my sole name.0
