Hello subsoniccoyote,
Do you work for bathgate?
:-p0 -
thats what ive done india.
ive had the notice telling me the claim for me and my ex husband has stopped, i claimed nearly 4 weeks ago for myself and ive had nothing since then, i understand they have to do checks but my only incom are from benefits which IS have already checked, IS told me that its easy to check what benefits im on as its all recorded under my NI number and she said she didnt understand why i wasnt receiving any money from tax credits, she told me she thought it was disgusting and to pester them like mad.0 -
They dont just check your benefits and IS have told you to keep pestering why? IS should be aware that claims can take some time to process - they themselves can take a long time.
Pestering as they put it doesnt speed up the process.0 -
ah right, but what else are they likely to check?
thanks0 -
The reason IS am able to check your details quicker than TCO is because not everyone is on IS. Where as with CTC anyone with a child under 16 (or 16+ and in FTNAE or Connexions) and with a income below £56,000 (very approximate and based on personal circumstances) can claim, therefore alot more claimants to deal with. Sorry, but sounds like it's now a waiting game. By all means keep calling to progress chase, but don't think their is anything else you can do at this time.

Ps, Don't forget, it was easy for DWP to process your IS claim and check up on your Incapacity Benefit & DLA for the children as they administer both, therefore saving time on not having to liase with other goverment departments.0

/have your kids ever been known by another name than the ones they use now? That can hold up claims. Also, has anyone else (like your ex) made a claim for the same kids? A compliance check means eveything you put on your claim form (more or less) will be checked. Depending on what they find, they may choose to access bank records, loan agreements, what property you own, everything really. Unfortunately, some people (and I don't mean you) do choose not to tell the whole truth on their claims. This costs the taxpayer billions each year, and to try and prevent this, your claim can be selected at random, not just because something looks dodgy. It looks like you might be one of the claimants selected at random. And as its been said before, if this is the case, ringing helpline won't get you anywhere as there is nothing they can tell you, or do to speed up the process. Just a case of waiting I'm afraid. Hope you get things sorted soon!0

well i phoned them again today.
the lady mentioned something about everything needing to be done before 5 april and that they had 2 more days, not sure what she means about that.
she said i was sent a letter on 17 mar and i told her i havent received it and can she tell me what it says, she then put me on hold and came back on and said she couldnt access the letter, but that it wasnt fair on me if i hadnt received the letter so didnt know what was going on with my claim so she sent an email to the tax office asking them to send me another copy.
thing is me and ex have decided to get back together and he is moving back in tomorrow, so im not sure how this will affect things, now obviously i wont be able to tell them till tuesday cos their systems are going down but i will ring income support and council tax tomorrow and inform them.0 -
You can call them now and ask them to add a free format change of circumstances (sounds strange if you dont know the system but the adviser should know what you are on about and if not speak to a manager).
You can tell them you have got back together with your partner from today (you cannot advise of this change in advance so you are better just calling up today before 6pm when the systems go down for almost a week) and get them to send you a new claim pack so that you can claim jointly with your partner. When you send the new pack in to TCO you should include a letter to request it be backdated to tomorrow.0 -
oh only just seen this so its too late now.
i think i read on your post that the systems are back up from tuesday?
if so i will phone them first thing.
i will phone income support tomorrow and tell them as well as dh is no longer working due to being laid off so that should start a new claim for us as a couple.
with regards to my claim as a single parent for nearly 5 weeks, what would happen to that, will they disregard that and i wont get anything (as i presume they are completeing a compliance check, but on their website it says it should be done by 5 april if ive read it right) or should i still get the money due for that, also if you dont mind me asking you, when i start my new claim as a joint couple does that take a long time to go through also.
thanks very much for all your advice i really appreciate it.
