Slightly OT: Nationwide Visa internet banking

Has anyone had a problem recently accessing their credit card details on the Nationwide internet banking site?

I can log in and access my FlexAccount details without any difficulty, but when I try to view the statement details for the credit card I get an error message saying "Sorry. We are unable to process your request at this time, please try again later.". I have been getting this message consistently for at least the past 10 days.

Nationwide have so far been no help whatsoever, and I've had all the usual under-trained-tech-support cr*p about cookies and what browser I'm using . They've finally admitted this week that "We are aware that some customers are unable to view transactions for this account and this is being looked into at present.", and then went on to ask me about my browser and cookies again!

so is it just me?

Absolutely no problems with either FlexAccount or credit card statements here.

I'm not aware i've ever had any problems with Nationwide internet banking. I usually consider it one of the best.

Not just you. I had this problem. After the usual cookies crap, they determined they have a problem if your account has been in creidt during the month, the internet page can't handle it and will not show the transactions page until after the statement date. That's what they are telling me anyway...

Could be as the other poster(s) have pointed out.

Another idea is when you goto certain parts of https pages they use certain ports on the server and if you have a firewall this could be blocked. This can even be the case despite being able to view the sites other pages.

Test: Disable your firewall and try again.

Thanks, that would make sense as I'm pretty certain my account was in credit this month.

So that's some pretty cr*p coding then:rolleyes: Admittedly most credit cards are probably rarely in credit, but the FlexAccount statement can handle both positive and negative balances so why would they disable it for the credit card.

slightly off topic, does anyone agree that the online halifax cc viewing facility is pants? No facility to see your transactions or anything like that!

I occasionally have problems getting into barclays online banking, but it seems to be cured by a quick restart (we leave our computer on, so many people use it in this house!)

Sounds like you know more about this than I do, so I'll take your word for it.

However, I can't really understand it in this case. If we were talking about two different applications on the same site then OK, but both these pages are basically forms displaying the contents of a few database tables (about which I do know a little). There may be a difference, but surely there shouldn't be, and it shouldn't be hard to fix

Anyhow, thanks for the firewall tip, but it didn't seem to work.

My sister and I both use the same computer. I can read all my nationwide a/cs ok but she can't get her credit card a/c. so it can't be cookies, firewall. Nationwide are looking into her problem must be at least 5 weeks ago she reported this problem.

Is it possible that your sister's card was in credit during the month as has been suggested?

I've been in credit with a Nationwide credit card for a while (approx 50p). I have never noticed any problems before yesterday. I wanted to find out my credit limit as they don't send statements if you are in credit. I could check this out a week ago with no problems. Perhaps this is where their account access logic has fallen over.

I've been using n/w c/c for several years and had no specific access problems.
They occasionally go "off-line" and there is then no access to their web site.
Otherwise, I find it a good site to use (bearing in mind that I originate from the era of 'steam radio'.
My main moan about their c/card account is the fact that they don't instigate the d/d minimum payment if you have already made a separate internet payment prior to the due date for payment.
