It gets very annoying, especially when relatives are telling you the same when you're and FTB. Although I believe it holds true for those people moving house.
But it depends on circumstance.
Having come back from Uni, both I and my partner now live back with our respective parents.
We need out, it not good for anyones health or mental state really.
Renting costs the same a a mortgage, house prices in our area are the cheapest in the country.
The cost of renting offset against the loss of a purchase price on a house over 3 years, would mean that the prices would *need* to fall by at least 35% in order for us to have "saved" money.
People who carp on about "don't but now" you'll find, tend to already have a home, for FTB's its a completely different situation, you really can't live with your parents, or waste money on rent forever.
At the end of it, it depends on what you can afford.
We can afford to buy a house and for the price to fall - since we're staying there a while, house prices recover usually every 7 years.
Even so, it depends what you earn an what you can afford to "loose"on house prices (if they drop), we're aiming to clear the mortgage in 15 years.0 -

....and please... lose the bloody turquoise text!!!
Is this better..blue not your colour? I have to say you appear very stressed maybe a holiday is in order?
I get the SAVING bit.. me paying my mortgage is saving as opposed to giving it to a landlord each week and buying his house for him..
Prices are falling..oh well tough luck, life's crap get used to it..people will always moan wether they drop, get higher or stay the same..some people are NEVER happy..

There's nothing like a pastel colour to undermine an argument.0

This is now becoming humerous. So maybe this thread is another wind up, I don't know, especially with the pastel colours coming in.
Can all the people contesting house price falls tell me one thing, how would you not have saved money buying today instead of August 07?Keep the right company because life's a limited business.0 -
