hi
i used to "pick" the internet shopping. we had to pick the best sell by date possible but if todays date was the best they had, then it had to be sent. pickers are under so much pressure to obtain high availability rates and can be disciplined if this falls below a certain percentage. you're told to ask yourself "would i buy it?". half the time i wouldn't have bought it but i had to send it. also, a lot of the pickers are kids so don't do their own shopping which doesn't help. i would use internet shopping but i would NEVER order fresh. The £1,000 emergency fund challenge #163 - £536.16/£10000 -

I've tried 4 groceries stores for shopping delivery.
Asda, I've ordered only once, more because I wasn't happy with the general quality of the food, but that might be me.
I've ordered from Sainsburys for a couple of years, the service got worst and worst until I decided to not order from them again (items missing, entire bag missing sometimes, had to call nearly every time for it, had my money back but rather have the goods) while at other times I had extra bags from other customers.
Now I am ordering from Tesco and occasionally Ocado. Ocado is good, the service is good and the products are of quality, only rarely I am disappointed.
ex :last order, the bananas weren't all that and there was 2 eggs broken which dripped all over the other products in the bag. I think it's the only time I had a complaint about them. Did appreciate the 2 free bottle of wines the 2 first times I've ordered from them, though after that you don't get anything extra. But it's the only shop that did this.
I find Tesco usually gives good service, far better than Sainsburys, sometimes one or two items not available but not too often. My main complaint with them would be that sometimes some of my goods are not packed and they are left in the trolley like that, when I do ask for my goods to be bagged. But I agree that they seems to use one bag for one item sometimes, when they could bag it with other things, but I suppose they have to follow some regulations on whether some goods can be bagged with some other goods or not.
Did appreciate greatly the fact that I can chose my own substitutions or not to have any for everyone of the items, that felt like paradise after the dodgy Sainsburys substitutions I've experienced.
With tesco, I did once get 2 products where the sale by date was the day before the delivery. Called the number on the invoice handed to me by the driver, and they refunded the 2 items without problems.
It will depend on the area you live. I think you should try them all and see which one is the best in your area, it'll depend probably on how the store is managed, if I had to move to another area, I might find that Sainsburys is better than Tesco for example.0 -
Lady K, I have used Tesco Home Delivery in three different areas and I have found the service to vary greatly according to the area and the calibre of personal shopper located in that area. For example, in one city I lived in the nearest Tesco was in a really run-down suburb. Going to that Tesco was a pretty awful experience, I can tell you! I saw some of the Personal Shoppers going round with trolleys collecting stuff for home deliveries and it explained why when I ordered online I got some of the products I did. I got some old stuff, some bad stuff, and some stupid stuff. I remember once getting Black Bean Sauce when I had ordered Mayonnaise! The other two Tescos I have used have been in quiet rural areas and from those two Tescos the service has been extraordinary! The other day I ordered three of one kind of Chinese green vegetable. They didn't have it in stock on the day, so they sent me a big Chinese green vegetable of a different kind, refunded me the money for the 3 they didn't have, and gave me the substitute with their compliments! Very impressive. It all depends on the individuals working in the store. And that, I am afraid, depends largely on its location.0

I bought a bar of chocolate from tescos in Dalmarnock Rd,Glasgow last week and discovered it was 5 months out of date after eating some.I complained in the store and was told they were very sorry and that someone would contact me which they did and i was asked to return to the store again only to have someone apolopgise again and offer me a bottle of wine which would probably be worth less than the petrol i used for both visits. When i replied that i don,t drink i was offered a cake.I have now been in touch with head office to complain and have been told that i should have been asked to fill out a health form due to having an upset stomach, which i wasn,t.An hour after complaining the bars of chocolate were still on the shelf so be careful if your shopping at tescos and always check the dates.I check dates constantly on food but just didn,t think to check it on a bar of chocolate.I,m waiting for head office to get in touch.0

Tesco are on dodgy ground here [OOD food]
Sainsburys have just been fined £104K ... for..........OOD food!!!!!!!0 -
Tesco are always brilliant In your opinion when you get a full refund AND keep the product. If you don't like the date codes, or the quality that you order online...then DON'T blame the PICKER who is under stress to pick your order....go and do your own shopping ok!!!!!!!!!!!!0

Your other option is to write to the head office, evenutally after a few months and about 4 letters they might refund you the items and maybe the delivery charge as goodwill.
I've never used home delivery from any supermarket, I constantly read reports of the poor service and wrong/damaged goods and I can't be bothered with the hassle. M+S have good service reports on them, but of course they are lot more expensive than Tesco.
You could goto your local store and get the items you need, then send Tesco HQ a bill for your collect and delivery charge for this service you provided yourself after they failed to delivery. Include charges for your time, transport costs and wear and tear on shoe leather/tyres and engine. Might be fun, you could always awsk a newspaper if they are interested in following your story and let them print the letter - with all the Tesco hate around at the moment they might jump at the chance.
I've never had any complaints about Tesco home delivery - it's always been fine, but when I had an issue with the local store, over their disabled bay policy, I wrote to Terence Leahy, addressed the letter as personal, and within a week, I had a reply from him, a promise to improve it (it was improved), a gift voucher and a bunch of flowers from Tesco - might be worth writing to him personally.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
popped into my local tesco (very small store) at the weekend with my young children and grandson in tow. thought i'd give them a treat as they'd all been so good and picked up 2 multipack bars of milkybar 5 per pack think they were on special 2 for £2.
on eating the second pack a few days later notice they were 3 months out of date and they still had them on the shelf in store when i returned a few days later. I think thats totally disgracefull0
