  • Thanks Merrywidow. That's a great website. I'll have to work something out.
  • Hi guys - looks like I am not sk-ating off to Galicia after all. Developed a massive abscess under a lower tooth and in agony. Got anti-biotics so its a waiting game and the dentist during the week. Hey Ho - have to find someplace else to go.

Seven day weekend - what the sun doing down your way - would it be worth a trip down next week or has your "winter" set in.

  • Hi MW! What a shame you can't go to Galicia. Hope you get your abscess sorted out soon, they can be very painful.

The last few days have been sunny in the morning and you can go sleeveless but by the late afternoon the sun has gone in and I have put my cardigan on - nights quite chilly.

Remember though we are 1000 metres up in the mountains, as high as Snowdon's summit. It's warmer on the coast.

Also we have had quite a lot of rain.

  • Thanks SDW - shucks - I was afraid of that. Mentally I was all geared to go, and now feeling deflated. I will just have to go and treat myself for a few days to get over it. I am crying out for some sun - will have to look further afield - Canaries maybe. Dentist first Hey Ho. MW

    Hi Everyone

MW sorry to hear of your abcess. Weather wise, after 3 days a bit duff, but most of our rain falling before we arrived, floods in Elche on Wednesday, we seem now to have returned to the type of weather we had last October. Forecast looks good atm too. http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/SPXX0165.html
May help you. We are in shorts all day now, and though on Sunday did put my jeans on late on yesterday it stayed warm enough until bed time.
There is a breeze, though a warm one, but at least it is not too hot to get around as it was when we left in late July.

Maybe you check the weather for various resorts and then go and book a late booking? I think the better weather will best be from Benidorm down to Marbella area for the rest of the year.

    Take care. DG

It was still beautiful weather on the shores of Lake Constance just a couple of weeks ago. They were busy getting the apple harvest in.

It's possible to fly by Ryanair from Stansted to Friedrichshaven.

  • Thanks donny-gal - been trawling the internet, the Saga travel shop has some great deals at the moment. I will get the dentist out of the way first and go from there. Sister in law rang today to see if I fancied ski-ing on the Polish/Russian border at Christmas? More rotten weather - I don't think so!! When we were all in Austria last Christmas it was minu 7 or 8 degrees C every day. Not only that but the sun didn't make it over the mountain the whole 10 days. ME - I want some sun!

Does anyone have any thoughts on Malta - worth a visit?

All these dreams and I had a letter this week telling me my electric is going up 19 procent and Gas 30 procent - they must be joking. I want out of this country. Also because everyone has been economical with their water usage and we have had so much rain the water companies are out of pocket and will have to put the prices up!! Has this country gone completely bonkers?

    That's it Good night all.

Just caught up with this thread again and all of those planned and taken trips sound fantastic.... Hubby and I just took a 5 day trip to North Wales the Lleyn Peninsular we had warm dry days and had the best of everything, mountains , lakes, beaches, a stay on a working organic dairy farm and a trip to Port Meirion which I have been promising myself for ages... all in all a very restful interesting trip... apart from the fact we got 2hrs into our journey home across Snowdonia when OH discovered our cottage keys in his back pocket... how embarrassing we had to find a post office in a tiny village and send them special delivery back to the farm... I made OH phone the farmers wife and explain... hahhaha he was very embarrassed but she just said , don't worry people do it all the time... its what happens to us old folks :rotfl:

Hi everybody - happy again - I have booked two weeks in Tenerife - leaving on December 2nd. Great deal with Saga, Hotel Aguamarina Golf (no I don't!) but its all inclusive and I intend to just veg out for two weeks. With all the health scares of my mother the last 6 months I am exhausted - I just want to be out range, telephone contact, no shopping, cooking, cleaning and the rest. Roll on.

Plans are already afoot for a family holiday in Spain in May (BIL is a teacher and he is restricted on his holidays) As I told Donny-gal they wanted me to go ski-ing with them (I don't do that either!) up a mountain on the Polish/Russian border. They MUST be joking. (SIL is Polish)

Roll on December. Off to the dentist tomorrow - sigh, gulp, ouch!
