:hello: Hello, hope you don't mind me dropping in.
Can I ask for a definition of a SKater, please? I have heard of Spending the Kids' Inheritance, of course and am really looking forward to being in this club, when I get there, that is.
Thanks in advance
DGIf you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -
Welcome to drop in any time DG - what is that name? Skater is for oldies who have no kids. There is a proper explanation on one of the earlier pages, just have a quick flick thru. Spending Kash and thoroughly enjoying results. (Its on page 3) I looked. Always wanted a title.member # 12 of Skaters Club

Oh wow, what lovely, stunning, beautiful reaction I just had when I told our ds that we will be transferring £6000 into his bank account today, specifically to pay a little off his mortgage capital. His first reaction was astonishment, then `mum are you sure?`. He is the original gentle giant with a heart of gold and it has given us a lot of pleasure today
and a very big welcome to DG. This is the happy thread0 -
I skiied today. Bought myself an electric bike. I like cycling but there is a hill around every corner here and on every single route back to the house. I am going to enjoy my freedom :beer:0

We ski'd over to the UK on 2nd June on the Pride of Bilbao from northern Spain. Wonderful, but expensive.
Anyway, we thought 'sod it', have drawn more money from savings and are SKI-ing back again on the Pride of Bilbao on July 15th! (We were going to come back on a cross-channel ferry and drive through France).
Hope we get a free upgrade to a posh cabin like we did coming over!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Hi there seven-day-weekend - I bet you are cheesed off with this weather and will be glad to get back. How long is the drive from Bilbao to your mountain?
I skated from Paris to Saltzburg a year ago, first class, single sleeper - never saw a soul bar the carriage steward. He brought my meals on a tray and even a drink - heaven. It was just one of those things you have to do at least once. Money is round so it can roll - old Dutch saying. Bon voyage.member # 12 of Skaters Club

Have you thought about popping across the border to Biarritz,Bayonne and Bordeaux before driving back home?Just think of the food and wine stocks you could buy, it would easily justify the costTrying to keep it simple...0 -

We have driven this way before, to Calais or Dieppe, but it's such a long drive (twelve hours through Spain before you even get to France ). Then at least the same in France, and you need probably two overnigtht stops (one in northern Spain, one in France).
Wine is much cheaper in Spain; we can get good ones for around E1.25 a bottle. We brought a load with us to the UK when we came this time!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

We got an upgrade!
Admittedly not like the first one, but were given a cabin with windows instead of the cheaper option without.
Been back here ten days. Beautiful, but too hot.
And because we have to have Crappy Fonica (Telefonica) dial-up internet, the new computer we bought, which behaved itself perfectly in England, has slowed down to snail's pace and got loads of bugs......
Oh the joys of living in what was until relatively recently a third world country!
Love it really....in fact my two lives are entirely different and I like both of them for different reasons.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
