That advice is great, however the OP asked for a cure, not prevention...
How's this for a stupid comparison , the horse has bolted so you advised she closes the door.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -

Of course if you don't think this is good advice it may explain why you are in the predicament you are now...
You are so rude you have not asked me about any of the things you have pointed out above just made assumptions. Please read carefully, I HAVE GOT GOOD PASSWORDS, THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT. I DON'T THROW ANYTHING OUT WITH SENSITIVE INFO ON AND I DON'T CLICK ON RANDOM LINKS! where the hell do you get your info?
I can't do much about internet hackers and alike which is how they got onto my acount. Other than my anti virus i can't do much about it and i don't think you can either so quit it with the high and mighty.
Anyone nice who wants to know, additions have been very helpfull and have put me on an identity theft register which will help if anyone tries to use my details for anything else as i will be alerted. They have also changed my acount and set me up with extra security passwords etc. I have checked my credit report and looks as though i havn't been targeted with anything else. I have yet to hear from the police but they did say they'd ring in a few days. Thankyou those who have offered me good advice.0 -
Ive had a similar thing happen. I recieved a statement from my Choice catalogue account on Friday, which had 2 iPods and a TV on, I rang them and they had been ordered last week to be delivered to an address in London (I live in the midlands!)
They said that they would investigate and later that day I got a call from a fraud advisor, she said they had also ordered 2 TVs on my Littlewoods account, which although they are part of the same company I have completely different account numbers.
They have said I am not liable for the costs (over £2,000!) but I am waiting for a letter that confirms this as I want it in writing so I can stop worrying.
They said that the goods can't have been ordered online cos the confirmations would have gone to my email address & ive had nothing. I can only think that I may have had some post stolen & they have got my d.o.b and ordered over the phone... im not any statements missing though?
I have got the address where they were delivered as it has been saved on my online catalogue info.
I have gone in & changed all other passwords for all my accounts. Like the OP they have set me up with a note on my credit report saying I have been a victim and asked me extra security questions which I will need to use in the future when setting up new credit accounts.
Does anyone think there is anything else I should be doing?0 -
i am very sorry to hear what has happened too you, i hope you all get it sorted!0

I am beginning to wonder with Additions. My friend had this happen to her a couple of weeks back with her Additions account, she received an order confirmation email which told her that she had ordered various ipod deals to the total of about £900 and they would be delivered to an address which is about 500 miles away from us! She found out about it just after 5pm and the items had already been dispatched for NDD but the fraud department were very good and sorted everything out for her. The company then became those at loss.
I am wondering now if it is someone internal that they should be looking who is possibly up to no good and causing these problems."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

I know that many companys investigate large and expensive orders, and sometimes do fail, and in this case they did and should cover the costs!0

...and you provided this? or did you just continue with your trivial attempt to rid the world of trolls whislt you slowly transform into one yourself?
To be honest the OP didn't specifically ask for a cure, they asked what to do now. Any advice that stops this happening again surely makes sense.Bought, not Brought0 -

erm not stupid if she gets it back/gets a new one is it. If you don't learn from your mistakes then who's the stupid one?
and a quick edit it would be more akin to the gate being dodgy and able to blow open again or the horse learned how to open the gate and suggesting changing the latchlindseykim13 wrote: »You are so rude you have not asked me about any of the things you have pointed out above just made assumptions. Ok stick your fingers in your ears and ignore what's being said and it will happen again. If you have uptodate antivirus and good passwords and don't click on dodgy links and don't bin anything you shouldn't then I'd be expecting a major story in the newspapers soon about something fishy at the site in question. However I believe its much more likely (from a fair bit of experience in this kind of thing) that you are at fault in some way and you should try work this out to stop it happening again.0 -
I also think it may be somthing internal maybe dodgy staff.
Or maybe I have had my post intercepted, as the catalogues put the account number on most mailings so it would only need someone to get my date of birth (which seems pretty cheap & easy from googling it) then they can call and place an order!0 -
