By which time you would have probably just finished paying for it if you'd have gone for the interest free option?

Have you considered just starting the legal action route, send them a Letter Before Action (to their head office) stating that you would like a new sofa that isn't broken (or to have the current one repaired so the repair is not noticable), giving (say) two weeks for it to have been concluded either way (it may be that they promise a new sofa within a timeframe outside the two weeks, but that is enough)?

I've not had to go to court yet from one, (but I would do), as things tend to have been resolved very quickly.

I have already wrote before i asked them if they would offer / consider any compensation

they refused new sofas saying it can be repaired but their repairs caused more repairs needed :( also with the last engineer from ecomaster finding a spring has been put on wrongly and he has yet to call back for his attempt to repair

also paid cash for them which took me a long time to save

i have also kept the letters / replies back from scs i have now got appointment end april with CAB

You know my thoughts on compensation.

However, I would write that letter to them, stating something like their attempts to repairs have only caused more repairs to be required, plus the last engineer from Ecomaster found a spring has been put on wrongly which is still to be repaired; if it isn't resolved within two weeks you will initiate court proceedings to get the full cost of the defective sofa back (which they can then collect).

just updating on post regarding scs

received a phone call today ecomaster are coming friday 11th april to attempt repair

and as mentioned i got intouch with cameo due to scs said not there policy to offer compensation and they wont replace as they say it can be repaired
    (there faults not mine )

    reply from cameo

    Hi xxxxxx

Whilst, we are @ Cameo are concerned with the problems you are experiencing on your Glendale suite,

we as the Manufacturers are unable to deal directly with yourself as your suite was the subject of a Contract of Sale between yourself & SCS

We would ask that you contact SCS again concerning your query as we can only act on instructions received directly from them

Please accept our apologies for being unable to deal directly with yourself

    kind Regards
    Kexxxxx

Cameo are correct that your contract is with SCS and not them, however there is no law to stop them helping you out.

    Hi All
scs sent me all four different engineers reports today and each one staes that the faukts are manufactors

the engineer who called today put thin padding over the springs that are too long causing them to also rip lining

and worse of all the lining was not repaired at all as it was booked in for as the engineer didnt have the lining

and as the previous engineer pulled the lining too tight and stapled onto the lining of the arm this engineer undone it so i am back to as before now

i have just emailed scs and asked one more time will they replace as they have made matters worse each time getting repairs done

    Blimey, what a mess!

To be honest, I'd be asking for a full refund. There is NO way I would want another repair done on the same sofa.

I wouldn't even want a replacement ~ refund and go elsewhere.

Good luck with it all, please keep us updated :)

Fantastic! Does this mean they've sent you proof that the item wasn't of merchantable quality? :)

Very useful in court, the fact of which should be very useful for you to get a refund (or a new sofa) without needing to go that far.

  • I am having problems with my sofa, it will be the 3rd time they have come out, my main concern is over the last 4 weeks, I have been told by scs customer services that ecomasters will be in touch within the next 2 days, I ve been told this a total of 6 times now, and getting peed off. Does anyone have a number to get in touch with ecomasters directly
