Barclays cash ISA

Has anyone here whose opened the tax haven ISA online (has a c/a with barclays), in the past week, received anything more than a confirmation e-mail? I opened an ISa with them 5 days ago, recieved confirmation e-mail immediately, stating I'd be contacted shortly regarding my application, opted for funds to be taken straight from my account.
2 days after I phoned Barclays to ensure app went through, they confirmed it. Just have'nt heard anything else yet.0 -
I've only had a confirmation email... Seems like I wasted my time getting the Barclayloan to cover my BACS problem. Looks like the whole thing is being processed manually behind the scenes.
So long as the interest is dated from my application date I don't care. (And I can't see them meeting Inland Revenue rules by claiming my deposit was made in a subsequent tax year)0 -
Decided to take Martins advise on this one and opened one of these on line ............. back at the beginning of the month, and on the 14th I noticed, whilst checking my account online, it was OPEN.:D
Next I tried to see how to pay money in to it and NOTHING ............. no details at all online, so emailed the 'Internet Care Team' asking for information on HOW to pay money in to my new account and received a reply that beggars belief :-

Not very helpful, but then again this is Barclays .................. so next day tried to call the number, between jobs and just ended up on hold so gave up ............ sent two more emails to them, but NO REPLY this time!!!
Two days later, a letter arrives informing me that my account was now open and welcome to Barclays! ....... no account details, so tried calling them again, but same problem NO REPLY ........... constantly placed on HOLD, so once more gave up (each call lasted at least 25 minutes ON hold!)
So with NO replies to emails and not being able to get through on the phone, I was about to totally give up, when a welcome pack finally arrived through the post, telling me what I needed to know (or so I thought?) ............. Now with a new phone number to call (a dedicated Saving Serviceline 0845 603 0845) and details on how to pay money in, I thought (as I still had time, over a week and a half) I would simply call the number and transfer a lump sum from my current account in to the ISA ................. and so I called the number, time and time again (kept a LOG .................. 30+ phone calls, and around 15 HOURS in total (!!!) ... on HOLD ) all with no luck ............. !
Even this morning (Saturday 5th) I've spent over 3 hours on the phone, waiting to get through ................. but still no luck and as such, I have to say a BIG thank you to Barclays for their sterling service! ........... this last years ISA allowance is NOW wasted.
Credit Crunch ...................... with SERVICE like this, they (The BANKS) deserve all they get and if some of them close down, they only have themselves to blame! All Barclays needed to do, as no doubt they could have worked out the increased amount of custom their new Tax Haven product would create, was to employ a few more staff ................ something they could easily afford to do, given their record profits .............. but NO their choice to treat their customers with contempt!
In the mean time, I submitted a complaint (or two)..............& have so far received back a simple acknowledgement letter, telling me they are looking in to my concerns and will reply with their finding "In Time"!!! .......... plus they included a leaflet titled "Don't hold back your feedback'' encouraging you (their customers) to 'Tell them about it'' when they GET IT WRONG ................ good idea, if only they actually acted upon them?
Moral of my Tax Haven ISA ................... even though I applied in GOOD TIME, and managed to actually open an ISA, they (Barclays) seem to have done as little as they can, to help customers actually pay money in to them ................ after all THEY make more money out of me, whilst my cash is stuck in a BASIC Currant Account!!!
Next thing for me is to now find a different ISA (and company) for 2008/9 and to now move my currant account away from them also .................. and lastly this is not the first time I've had problems with Barclays Customer (Diss) Service ........... I was given a direct line to a senior Customer Service manager last time, but seems they no longer work for Barclays and the number (extension) has been re-assigned to a different department that 'could not help me with this problem'!!!
Sorry if this is a little LONG ............... but I now feel people should know just how GOOD (!) Barclays Customer Service really is and whilst their Tax Haven Product may well have appeared to have been the best available ............... Not ....... ALL THAT GLITTERS IS REALLY GOLD and whilst I normally accept what Martin says, I (personally ) think with this ISA, Martin has got it wrong.
Barclays .................... SUCKS .................... If you do not believe me, have a go yourself and enjoy the results!!!
Oh ......... And for the clever one of you out there with comments like ...... WHY DID YOU NOT JUST POP IN TO YOUR LOCAL BRANCH ......... easier said than done in my case, being away from home now, but if I could I would have ................. hence the use of these so called MODERN communication methods, such as Email or even the phone!!!0 -
In fact it does say in their T&Cs
2.2 The minimum deposit is £1. Deposits may be made by transfer from another account, standing order, cheque, or by paying a cash amount into any Barclays branch in the UK.
To be quite frank its pretty obvious they're not going to take instructions by email, completely unsecure.0 -

she wasnt giving instructions via e-mail.....she e-mailed them asking HOW she can make a payment into her ISA....0 -
Am I missing something ................?
In the fist instance all I ASKED them (via email question) was to inform me HOW I should go about paying money in to the Cash ISA ................... NOT to actually take payment by email ..................???
WHERE did I say this ................???0 -
I don't get it, why would they email saying 'we can't take instructions for this type over email' when she was just asking how to....?
I don't get it - why couldn't she have just written a cheque out, sent it to the address and let them deal with it? Then if they say rar rar rar you didn't give account number, you have a right to complain as they didn't send you it, which I can't believe they haven't either.0 -
