The OIU sounds like a good idea, however if my daughter put one in my card my reaction would be based on what the IOU looked liked.

I imagine you dad knows you're currently trying to spend as little as possible, if my daughter wrote "IOU 1 present" on a piece of A4 lined paper which was folded in half and shoved in a card, I wouldn't appreciate it that much.

However if it was the same card, but inside was an IOU with a short personal message written by her, on nice paper with sticky on detailing then it would look better, mean more because time and emotion has been put in to it, and I wouldn't need a present after this.:D

    HTH Ploddy ;)

Thanks for your input. I've not noticed you posting on this thread before - are you new on the boards?

Sounds lovely SF. I'm sure your dad will love it. It's very true - I thought I was good with my money and this site has transformed me, particularly this challenge and the GC! I never thought I would be out of work so as you say, you never know when those skills might come in really handy; they've certainly helped me massively so that money doesn't need to be a big worry on top of everything else.

Personally, I would find it beneficial to see how big each of the the challenger's households are.

£4K per year for one person is much easier than..

£4K per year for a family of 5 or 6.

When I started it was :
    1 Adult
    2 Children
    1 Dog
    2 Kittens

    its now
    1 Adult
    3 Children
    1 Dog
    1 Adolencent Cat
    1 PREGNANT Cat

So I know mine will now go over the £4k but I am trying to keep to it as much as possible, and know that I have the option of including the Child Benefit for the year into the Equation if need be.

    My budget is for:

    1 adult
1 three year old that eats almost as much as me
    1 dog
    4 guinea pigs
    3 rats

If I fail I will blaim my tendency to spoil my animals (and not my addiction to chocolate :rotfl:)

I haven't had time to catch up on the previous pages, so apologies if this has already been posted! But just in case, ebay is doing 5p listings on Thursday.

Am awaiting a delivery from Mr T, only the 3rd one this year but I didn't get to town this weekend and had some e-coupons to use. Anyway, they rang to say they are running about 1hr 25 mins late and if it goes over 1hr 30 I won't be charged delivery! Once I would have been annoyed, but now I'm willing them to be late - how sad is that?
