However, just realised a house I had decided I probably couldn't afford has just dropped in price by £10k http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-19483112.rsp?pa_n=2&tr_t=buy so think I'm going to have to set up a viewing there! My cars would be very happy in a double garage :-)

What a bargain would just about get a 1 bedroom flat for that amount here:confused: . It looks lovely, I hope it lives up to your expectations. Good Luck.

Good evening. A totally NSD for me today as DS2 is revising (well ??? perhaps) and I spent four hours digging. I had cleared the weeds so it was quite easy except fot hedge roots. I dug about the size of 5 x double beds. I kept thinking - that one's for onions, this one's for carrots and so on. Then I got rained off at 2.45. I intended to go back but gave the kitchen a good clean instead and made cottage pie from bits and pieces. DH had said it wasn't worth doing anything more than a sandwich with the left over beef but in the end it served 3 and I've a big portion for tomorrow. Rhubarb from garden and home made icecream from reduced cream (11p) So tea for three was a maximum of 40p each (beef 90p, onion, tomato, pepper and carrot from garden (some frozen), mushroom 10p, icecream 10p) Potatoes 10p (from sack)

I've just been revising for my Roman law exam tomorrow and come across something interesting... OK, OK, so in early law you could be taken into slavery for failing to pay a debt, but in later law they were actually pretty nice... the interest rate was a maximum of 12%, and then it was reduced further to 6% for commercial loans and 4% for private ones. Compound interest was not allowed as it was seen as exploitative. Bet some people on this board wish we still had those rules!

    Hi,

Back from London not long ago. Very tired, a lot poorer (no - I am not going to divulge my spending today here) It has been such a treat and I am never ever going to go back to London further than SW where I used to live. I got stuck in traffic big time in Knightsbridge and got a bit lost in Holborn (my old map had the old one ways that had changed since).

As I am always moaning about DD I can say that she has been today: BRILLIANT, LOVELY, WONDERFUL, SUPERB, A STAR!!!

    So yes very good time.

Off to get all the stuff from the car and then settle down to make up for the Dog. I had to call my neighbour to let her out as I got so much delayed getting back. Poor thing. Need to get some chocolate for neighbour tomorrow as a thank you.

Catch up tomorrow if either of us gets up. I just have a feeling that I am allowed to sleep a tad longer than normally.

    Marru

PS I have sort of read all the messages but my solitary brain cell can't take any of it in now so need to revise tomorrow - oops, correction - later today.

I'm also sick of the sight of plastic bottles and wonder if i will ever have enough to make my greenhouse lol or wether to just let the idea go and recycle them.My cupboards is overflowing lol
Lovely sunny day here again today and I'm off to pick up DD soon who has been staying at grandmas farm in the hope that the chicks would hatch :)

    Hi everyone,

Marru, glad you had a great time in london, we all need a treat now and then!

andromache loving the info on Roman Law! Glad they've got rid of the slavery part...

    whitewing the dress sounds lovely!!

Everyone seems to have been very busy. I'm dreading updating this month as I have gone over again.

And, I really need to see a dentist. I realised yesterday I haven't been in (I can't believe I'm confessing this) 4 years! I was walking past one, so I popped in for a price list. But I've got nothing to compare it to (parents used to pay, those were the days), I wondered if you lot could advise?

    Initial appointment (incl. x-rays) £45
    Check up £35

Does this sound reasonable? I also thought I might look into local colleges / universities. I get my hair cut by a trainee, so why not my teeth checked? I don't think I need any work, maybe a polish, but I would just like someone to look at my teeth and say that! Anyone got any experience with this? (no detailed horror stories though please, a simple 'don't do it' is enough!)
