Just arrived back from a top up shopping trip at asda. Spent £15.90 but have enough bits to last until we go on holiday next week now. :D I like shopping at night when the store is empty, I can whizz round in no time.

Still lovely and sunny so the world seems a brighter place. Can't talk now, am off to see an expert about the job situation. Am a bit nervous. Need to do some preparation before we leave.

    Good morning fellow frugallers:D
Another lovely sunny day here, and everyone is in a great mood to start the day, what a difference a bit of sunshine makes.

    Frugal tasks for today:
    make a loaf in breadmaker
Start off my next batch of kefir
Plant up a couple of cucumber plants I have been given
Get my hanging baskets of tumbler tomatoes outside now it is warm enough
Find time to go to work:rotfl:

Anyone know if wild garlic would survive if I dug some up and moved it to garden.? I have found a huge patch at the roadside near DD's stables it is at least 200 yards long and goes about 50ft back. Smells lovely when you go past.It isn't protected or anything so I don't think any one would mind me pinching just a couple of plants.Actually i think the land belongs to the stable owner so will ask nicely next time I pick DD up:o .

I have been dying to try some of the nettle soup recipes but didn't think OH would try it, I was really surprised when he came home from work talking about a colleague making nettle soup and has agreed to give it a go:j . I just need time now to go and collect some, there is lots on railway embankment;) .There was also a nettle pasta sauce recipe on OS the other day that sounded good.

Have a good day everyone, catch up with you all later:D

Nope - it must be the bank holiday weekend that's making it take so long. Annoying, huh! Why does that mean you have to stop, though? Surely all the more reason for making today a frugal day :) I hope you're right about the weather today - it's looking promising so far!

I actually know this!! I have a supervision on property offences this afternoon :p You're allowed to pick plants/fruit/flowers/mushrooms etc as long as it isn't for a commercial purpose, i.e. if you were to pick loads and loads of fruit, make jam, and sell it for profit, then that would be theft. However, you aren't allowed to dig up the whole plant, as it counts as part of the land and therefore belongs to the property owner. Soo yep, technically you should really ask the stable-owner

Right... now I'd better go and learn the rest of the property offences cause I haven't got very far in

    Have a nice day everyone!

Welcome back Mumzy, well done Taka, good luck Whitewing, and hello to everyone else. I've made a frugal discovery! :j I was trying to make yoghurt without a wide-necked flask, leaving it in all sorts of warm places, but it wasn't taking. Last night I put on the slow-cooker and went to bed, then leapt up ten minutes later with an idea. Went downstairs, turned the slow-cooker lid over (it seals just as well), put a trivet on it and put the bowl of milk and yoghurt on the trivet. This morning I have a stew AND a big bowl of very nice yoghurt. Obviously it's not as convenient as an Easiyo, but I don't have one of those. I'm now trying to think of other uses for the upturned lid - maybe drying herbs?
