Can I Sue for 1p?

Basically I bought something online and when I got my Credit Card bill I had been overcharged by 1p.
I emailed them to complain but their response was that I shouldn't be worrying about it and if I had any "real" queries that I should reply otherwise I should get lost (basic tone of email rather than actual words).
Obviously if the email had been appologetic etc I wouldn't be wanting to pursue the matter but it wasn't so I want justice now.
What should I do? Can I sue them or could I dispute the transaction with the Credit Card company?

You could dispute the transaction with the credit card company and request a chargeback of the 1p.
You could take the retailer to the small claims court. However, you should be aware that if the judge believes you to be vexatious (am not saying they will, but it is a possibility), they may insist that you pay costs.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I cant believe you complained over 1p! Court papers, haha love to see the judges response.
Whilst i'm all for saving money or a good bargain, arguing over 1p seems a little petty to me.0 -
I think given the danger that court costs would not be awarded, it might be better to go down the charge back route. However I think I might dispute the whole transaction, get the full amount re-credited (after all the transaction I made was for x, this transaction for x+0.01 therefore must be completely different) and let the company chase me for the money.0

The cc company will not do this, and if you claim accordingly, it would be fraudulent.Gone ... or have I?0 -

What amount would you complain for?
As all it took was one email I thought I might as well, but it is their reply which has annoyed me.
What if that 1p overcharge put me over my credit limit and landed me with a black mark on my credit record and a £12 penalty? Would I be right to complain then?0 -
If you consider how much your time is worth, even picking up the phone to complain about a 1p overcharge is a waste of your money0

However I'll have gained a great anecdote to bore family and friends with!0

... and a criminal record?
Only joking. If I report this to the CC company I shall of course be 100% honest.
It's just thetone of their email reply that has annoyed me so much.
Another thought - As I bought this over the internet can I return it to them at their cost and get a refund under the distance selling regs? Another company is now selling it cheaper anyway.0
