I'm trying to get extended warranty for a car I'm buying ( 7 year old Audi TT coupe) . Looked at clikc4warranty and warrrantyDirect and both seem to cover similar things. Click4warranty is slightly cheaper and they have 21 day no quibbles refund as well as cover from day 1.

Any one know much about click4. There seems to be diff view on Warranty direct despite recommedations from honestjohn and some other reputable sites.

  • Don't bother. Extended warranties are a waste of money.

Any particular reason you say that?
  • Yes. They are designed for the benefit of the warranty company, not the purchaser. They're very profitable, but not for you.

You'll find the list of exclusions on what they will cover to be very large, and anything that is covered will likely be blamed on poor maintenance or wear and tear, or driver abuse.

If you feel you need one because you don't trust the car, then don't buy the car tbh mate.

This question has been raised in the forum many times. If you search, you'll find that advise always comes as "don't bother". When you claim, they will find ways to refuse your claim.

Honestjohn site gets funding from Warranty Direct !
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.
  • i disagree with above comments. I am with Warranty Direct for my 4 year old
Mini and it needed 800 quid worth of engine work at the BMW dealership after developing a lot of noise - started with the belt tensioner and the cranksaft pulley etc. i paid a 15 quid excess and WD paid for the rest with no quibble at all. My policy is 180 p/a so it was definitely worth it. I have the 'Gold' coverage which covers most parts, inlcuding wear n tear and mending at the dealership
  • If you'd gone to an independent specialist you would have paid more like £500 so you're still out of pocket.

i paid 180 premium + 15 excess for the claim and 500 at an indie is cheaper?
  • Took out a five star warranty to cover everything possible, sounded wonderful. Had a problem with an electric window not going up after 30 mins of trying. Click4warranty said go and check it out at a garage of your choice and to contact them with the results. The garage had the same problem and felt that it was probably the regulator. Click4warranty said they wouldn`t authorise repair as it hadn`t failed completely. We contacted them again for an explanation. They told us much the same. We asked if we had to wait until it failed comletely and they replied that they wouldn`t fix it then because they had already rejected the claim. Waste of money, total fraud !!!

That's interesting to hear. We've been with Warranty Direct for years who have always handled our claims very well and have been great to deal with.

Always looking for a cheaper alternative to WD but it sounds like click4warranty might not be the answer.
  • Extended warranty, how can I lose!
I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling ;)
