    Yes thats fair enough.

But when buyers don't want to, or refuse to spend extra for postage and then complain that its 'lost' when you've advised them to have insurance etc. Thats annoying and not the sellers fault.

Also there are so many scammers looking to receive the item and receive a refund for it from the seller that if sellers operated that way they would be bogged under by the work in retrieving money back.

The vast majority of sellers on ebay have the same policy. That they will supply proof of postage. They can't all be bad, with poor selling practice.

It's down to the seller to make sure it gets there, so when it goes through a charge back as stated the seller will lose. The seller should not give a choice on postage ways because if you offered me
1st class at one price then another price for recorded I would take the least expensive as it's not down to me if it gets here.

And no i'm not dishonest but I'm also not going to pay more than I have to
Thanks for any help and advice given

It doesn't matter what the sellers policy is. If the item was paid for by paypal then all the buyer has to do it file a item not recived and paypal will always find in their favour - especially as you posted via a untraceable mothod. Paypal will just decide in the buyers favour & give them a full refund from your account.

They may say it on their listings but that does not make it correct. Just wait till thay get a chargeback then they will find out what they put in their listing means nothing as far as paypal goes.

Your exactly right nickyt - I have been burned badly by this in the past, was having at least 2 buyers a month claim their items were unrecieved.

As I was still a newbie at the time I tried to say it was not my problem as I had proof of postage. They just opened a paypal dispute and got all their money back. As paypal say proof of postage is not proof of delivery.

I will now only post special delivery as the buyer can't deny all knowledge of having recived the item.

    EVERY seller?

I do not wish to be tarred with the same brush as those naive and immoral enough to shirk their responsibilities as a seller. Or those that have not lost a paypal claim for Item Not Received.

There are plenty of people out there who are quite happy to purchase items listed as such, then put in a claim to teach the seller a lesson.

Besides, if you ordered something and it did not arrive, would you still expect to do all the chasing around and making the claim with RM? How would you feel if the seller simply said "tough - I posted it, your loss"?
