I went into my local branch and arranged to open one for 08/09 though I was told no account number is generated at branch and it will be sent to me in the post. Was suprised to find I didn't have to actually sign anything. I though given possible IR complications should people over subscribe a signature would have been a requirement.

Are you sure you didn't have to sign anything? My application form had a signature box....

Chambta - this is what happened to me this time last year. I didn't get any receipt for my application/cheque. I didn't hear anything from them for several weeks and they took a while to cash my cheque too. I thought they would have learnt their lessons from last year
  • I'm watching this with interest as will be heading to a branch soonish after the 5th April to try and get this ISA opened, unless some jawdroppingly better interest rate appears the next few days. I daren't go in sooner in case they put my money under 2007/8 by mistake (you never know). Please keep posting to let us know how you get on if you're opening this account, I'll also let you know how I get on.
Never mind the house prices, I'm saving a deposit.
    [STRIKE]£20,000[/STRIKE] £15,100.82 still needed - 24.50% saved so far!
Buying and moving costs: £3-5k - will save this after the £20k
Aiming to buy my own place by the end of 2011

Specific Terms and Conditions March 2008
1 Tax Haven ISA is a Mini Cash ISA in accordance with the ISA Regulations until 5 April 2008 and a Cash ISA from 6 April 2008.

I applied for the 2007/08 allowance.

Two working weeks would seem enough, and stories of last year worry me. I'll check tomorrow.
