Now looking for kitchens, spooky as the beginning of this thread everyone is talking kitchens. Got a price from kitchen designer £6783! Yeah right!
MFI £4250, better but not quite. B&Q not very helpful staff and very smelly man who spoke to me - that's about all I can say on that.
Going to try homebase and Howdens, who apparantly supply MFI anyway.
Getting very fed up as DH says I can have what I want which is nice, but some input would be good. He said if I wanted the MFI one I could have it, I said 'you're having a laugh, I'm not paying all that' which I'm sure you would all agree with. The kitchen is having quite a few units and includes fitted oven, hob and chimney but I know I can get a better deal somewhere.
I sourced all my own appliances and saved about 2k that way. The appliances i have are a range cooker, with 90cm hood too and also large fridge and freezer, not american style but seperate and i saved £150 buying online. Also Howdens do supply MFI, if have are having fiitter do it for you he can get it even cheaper. My brother had is fitted at half the price this way. I also bought all my units myslef rather than MFI sorting it out and just paid for the fitter its cost £1900 with MFI doing it, it would have cost just under 4k. hth xYou can touch the dust but please don't write in it !
Would you like to speak to the man in charge, or the woman who knows whats happening?0 -

I don't know how long you can wait - but they may well come back with a better offer if they don't hear from you.
At our last house we wanted an elevated deck to make an area which wasn't flat usable. We had 2 quotes within £5 of each other - so went for the chap that I had a better gut feeling about. So a few weeks later when the chap was installing it I got a leaflet through the door (from the other company) offering 50% of the quoted price - why they had to do that when it was obvious what work was going on I do not know!
A similar thing happened with fitted wardrobes here - although the man from sharps was taking the mickey in the first place. Found someone else who actually saved us money by suggesting a better use of the space and it cost 25% of what the Sharps chap was trying to [STRIKE]fleece[/STRIKE] charge us.

If you know what appliances you want buy them online - it will probably be cheaper.
Then negociate on the units - are Ikea or Magnet worth trying?
Well done with all the work!

Wish I could sort out my ebay listings, but some twerp over at ebay has managed to supply an update to turbolister which is missing loads of catagories - mainly clothing and shoes which is basically what I have to sell :mad::mad::mad: Am I NOT meant to sell these things?Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
can anyone be faffed doing anything today???
I have done virtually nothing. I just sat and groomed the fat cat so i could say i had done something useful. and went through one of my email inboxes deleting a load of carp.
The house is never going to get sorted at this rate, and to be honest, i don't care.
I might forget about today and hope my back is hurting less tomorrow.0
