That's the same as ours except that it has a smaller hard drive. We were originally going to have that one but then hubby decided he wanted the bigger hard drive - not sure why but there you go!

The reviews do vary on Amazon (overall it gets 4/5 stars), but I think they do with all makes and models. Some people have problems but it can happen with anything. There is a thread on washing machines on another forum on here and a lot of people have problems with Hotpoint whereas mine (and I shouldn't say this!) has been fine, I've only ever had Hotpoint.

We don't require anything other than to watch via Freeview and record programmes to watch later and playback DVDs. It does everything we want perfectly. We also have Freesat on Sky so can watch this whilst recording from the built-in Freeview. It will record from Sky as well but you can't watch Freeview whilst recording Sky although you can watch your TV on analogue channels whilst you still have them.

I want to record programmes and then be able to record over them againIs it DVD RW ? OR DVD r ? OR WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
WOULD BE GREAT IF I CAN RECORD ON THIS AND THEN WATCH ON A DVD PLAYER ?

you need either dvd-rw or dvd+rw for the ability to delete and rerecord. make sure it can work with -rw and/or +rw. the rw just means rewritable or in plain english rerecordable.

if it has rw it means it is rewritable in other words you can delete and record again and again. when i said and/or it was because some recorders only work with - discs and some only work with + discs and some work with both. so if it could only record on - discs like dvd-rw for example then a dvd+rw would be useless and vice versa. however if it can record on both types then it doesnt matter.

check out these two webpages i have found which make it pretty clear i think. unless i am mistaken you can use both types of disc. one tip i would give you is dont bother with dvd-ram discs because when it comes to playing them on other things you would be likely to have problems. i thought i would mention that because panasonic push dvd-ram alot.

but DVD-RAM is far far superior in terms of functionaility. If you want something to use for day to day watch and delete stuff rather than playing it elsewhere then get a decent RAM disc and use that. If you don't use RAM I'm pretty sure you negate the timeshifting functionality also which seems to be a big sacrifice to make. Thats one of the main selling points of the Panasonics
