I was caught speeding about 3 years ago
I was gutted and fuming ~ at myself
I was breaking the law, the fine and points were my punishment.
I hope I have restored your faith for a few days
OP ~ a few mph isn't harsh, its speeding
Me too! I was doing 33 in a 30 mph area about 3 years ago. The only reason I was in that particular road at the time was because I was dropping my daughter off at school as she had missed the bus! But it doesn't change the fact that I was speeding and so I deserved the points and the fine.:rolleyes:0 -

He is taking this to court and pleading his case of that he needs his disability car because otherwise he wont be able to get around.
What are his chances??
His dad may be able to escape a ban with 12 points if he can demonstrate that "exceptional hardship" would be caused - that would depend on the exact nature of his disability.
You need to post this query on Pepipoo forums, the experts there will give you the best advice.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -

You were stitched up by the system, I presume you just paid the Fixed Penalty that the Police sent you, if you'd stood your ground and waited for a summons, they would never have succeeded in Court - in fact, it's unlikely the CPS would even have gone ahead with it.

based on the numerous tickets he has, and working on the premise that he's either unlucky, or just ignorant to speed limits, your question should be one of how many more tickets will he be allowed?
or am I being naive? If he gets "let off" this time, will that be his excuse next time? and the next?Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
I totally agree with you to be honest I wouldnt even ask about it if it wasnt for my partner probably having to run him round everywhere when he works nights. I dont really like his dad so its more for my partner than him.
I know you can say how many more tickets can he get the answer is i dont know. He does have 3 points that are coming off in june but Im not sure if they can delay the points till then.

I think Bargepole may have a better idea.
as a side note, he must speed always. does he even know he does it?Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
Because knowing you aren't guilty is one thing, getting the Magistrates to believe your word against that of a civvy police officer is a bit more tricky.
So when the prosecution scored an "own goal", there was every justification in us taking advantage of it. There's nothing sneaky about it; the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988 makes it quite clear how the prosecution evidence must be presented to the court, and if the CPS can't abide by that, they don't deserve to win their case.
Well done bargepole on helping Rtype! :T
I know what it feels like to be harassed by the police, and also how scary it is to stand up for yourself in court. It was a good feeling when they scored their `own goal` with my case and the magistrates told them off for wasting everyones time.0 -

I dont know to be honest I dont get in the car with him, I've already had two car crashes I dont want to be in anotherI've even bought him a speed camera detector to help but I don't know if he uses it.

When I saw the title of this thread I only opened it to see if it was a message in a bottle!
Good result though.0
