But without the use of an oven(mine is !!!!!!ed!) is there another way to do jacket spuds? These are one of my "in a hurry" meals??? Could I cook a whole spud in a steamer for eg.....sorry if that is a stupid question lol!!!
My microwave is kept upstairs for warming wheat bags. Wheat bags are great for back pain, stomach ache and ear ache. My friend uses her old one for sterilising compost. So maybe there is other uses apart from food, so may not be worth getting rid of it yet.

I always steam veg on the hob it is so quick,I use a pan of water to cook the potatoes in then put the 2 separate steamer pans on top so only need to use 1 ring:).......of course that is until the dear sons and girls decend then need a pan per veg:rotfl:but still steam them0 -

just booked a hotel room through lastmin.com as mentioned on MSE,found a top secret hotel and googled the description and only 1 hotel came so thought I'd found a winner as twice the last min price.
not a bit of it!when they sent the email telling me where it was I found it was not the one I thought but another already on their site next to the t.s one cost £69(they charged me £59) but when i checked on the hotels own website i found the same room to be only £54 and I could a/ cancel with no charge(unlike Last min who charge the full amount)b/not paid till I went there(had to pay at once on LM) and c/not paid a credit card fee(fee on LM)
They are giving me a standard room which has bad reviews on LM and the hotel site says needs refurbishment.
The LM site says you save up to 45% on the normal price, this is clearly wrong and I have emailed to complain but doubt I will get anywhere, just wanted to warn anyone else thinking the T.S ones are a good deal,I always check the hotels own site when booking as often it is actually cheaper than other sites but with TS this was not an option:mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -
I heard this tip from Chris Evans breakfast show this mornign!!
If you drive behind someone (not too close people!) and they spray their windows, squidge behind them to catch some of the spray to use it to clean your windscreen to save your window wash ....

I read a tip in Chat magazine today: when you're at the end of a packet of cereal, tip it into a colander and shake gently over a sink to get rid of all the small annoying crumbs.
My only thought was omg that's so wasteful :eek:Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Hi Juno - trick I learnt from OS - if any crumbs left at bottom of cereal packet, tip into plastic bag, save 'em up and use in crumble mix. When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

I don;t add ANY extra water to frozen veg that I cook in the Microwave? and only add a little to cabbage as it is mostly water. I add more for carrots and then use this to make the gravy. but mainly recently I have been Stir-Frying veg with a little oil. al the veg is supposed to be crunchy so it keeps more of the vitamins0

Hi all, I saved pennies by staying at home. I did some cleaning and mopped floors. I ironed some damp clothes, partly to get the creases out and partly to dry them more. The washing is taking longer to dry indoors due to the CH being off. The weather is milder but it has been showers today. I did some meal planning too.If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0
