Sneaky ways to save the pennies

I agree about proper hankies. I have broken up several ladies homes on their death and inherited their hankies so they are very soft.
As for the cost of washing them - they are small and go in with the underwear wash which is done at 60 to get rid of germs. (Other washes done at 30 - honest!)
The only thing I object to is ironing them - so I don't! My posh ones are ironed but everyday ones soon get crumpled anyway in pockets so I don't bother.0 -
when I was in hospital they wouldn't allow any 'real' hankies because they are so unhygenic. The doctor also said that a paper hanky should be used once and immediately discarded, which is what I now doClutter free wannabee 2021 /52 bags to cs. /2021 'stuff' out of the placeYOU CANNOT BE ALL THE GOOD THAT THE WORLD NEEDS, BUT THE WORLD NEEDS ALL THE GOOD YOU CAN BEtaken from Shelbizleee on YouTube - her copyright0

It is intresting to see how other people shop. Is the £17.44 for BOGOF deals? I swapped things with the help of the shopping comparison site and saved £14.88. Total spend was £72.12 for 2 wks. I also used a voucher code for £10 off for spends over £50.
Just looking at my payment and savings on the list - it says -3.48 for promotional savings, I think that may of been higher if I had not stuck to my list and went for the offers I did not require.
Total points this visit 176
this shop was an experiment,I went to the offers page, looked at the top offers 1st to see which ones I would use then worked my way down the different sections.normally I just click items from my favourites and buy the same stuff each time so trying to buy only things on offer may open up a whole lot of new food ideas!
I don't mind not having so many savings when I don't pay for delivery but when I have to pay I will try and make savings.
It would be interesting to work out just how much I could save over a year but doubt I will bother!!!!maybe I will for Feb.
Mr W just delivered my sevilles so off to make marmalade (managed to save £10.46 off a £51.81 shop so did quite well without even trying:j:j0 -

Ladies hankies are a waste of time but I do have a few gifted over the years or left over from my late gran. These I use for fancy events when pulling out a huge mens one would look odd.
What I recently do use in addition is facial wipes. I trialled some and didnt want to have them clogging up a landfill. What I did was wash them after facial wipe normal use (thought I find the idea of all those women who use them to remove makeup ineffectively in vast quantities landfill cloggingly repellent)following a tip from MSE where someone uses them for kids hankies (so doesnt matter so much if they get lost) I dont use them outside the home but I do find them good when you have a sneezing fit and get through a lot at once.;)What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
My grandmother used to keep the worn bits from the middle of cotton sheets to use as hankies when she had a cold. They were lovely and soft on sore noses.
I use proper hankies-so does DH. DDs use tissues so I have to remember to check their pockets before doing any washing for them otherwise the washing ends up covered with bits of shredded tissue.0 -

At Tesco's I bought Canderel sweetner tablets, 100 for £1.14 instead of Canderel spoonful granulated sweetner, 75g for £2.07.
I used 1 tsp. in my coffee and now 1 tablet instead.
I belive this is saving me pennies - what do you all think?
It is adult DD and myself who use the Canderel wile OH and adult DS use the sugar.
I can see the tiny container of the tablets being a saving on weight for a packed case on an aeroplane, I have in the past packed suger cubes to save on spilt sugar.Last year on holiday we just took the coffee and tea but bought the suger in Tenerife.
Wile buying for SC on arival is the sensible thing to do! ****** the prices! If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -

I've got a couple of those empty square and octagonal Ferrero Roche acryllic chocolate boxes. With some damp tissue paper in the base, they make ideal self-contained growing containers for those salad-type sprouting seeds. The lid keeps the temperature constant, even if they have to be placed on a draughty window ledge.0
