The best one for finding money was my daughter a number of years ago when she was in a local bookshop, she looked down on the floor to see a number of bank notes, she handed them in, went back to where she had been only to find more - in total it came to about £70. It was reported to the police but as no one claimed it she got the whole lot! Always make sure that if you find something and hand it to the police they take your details and find out when you can get it if it is not claimed (usually a certain number of weeks).

  • Hmmm didn't think about the natural fertiliser.... ick to my habit of eating while I pick then!

I don't think eating dirty veg will harm you - just the opposite - you will get some immunity by doing that :D ...I love picking carrots and radish etc from the ground and just rubbing some of the dirt off on my sleeve before I tuck in :o

I think we worry about bacteria a bit too much - especially babies and toddlers will have to be exposed to some bacteria, otherwise they won't get immunity against any of the nasties that are out there...
  • Hi Every One,
I am Cathy from USA.I usually try to save pennies in many ways as i can.I buy grocery from a cheaper market this saves me a lot of pennies and helps me a lot.Because the prices are a little bit expensive at other places.

    Thanks...

I am so proud of myself that I'm tekking everyone here...I boned a whole chicken! MrS sells larger value chooks so I bought one Thurs & did the bizz yesterday which I think helped. It was incredibly easy & not at all how I imagined so I'd advise anyone to have a go. The original cost was £1:99 per kilo--far, far cheaper than any cubed or boneless meat--& I'm still using the carcass to make a soup for today.

Well done - it always seems so much work, but really doesn't take that long and will give you so much more than the tiny portions you can buy.

I made some lemon and honey legs and wings the other week, and they were yummy.

I always buy "happy chicken"...but because it is so much more expensive, I only eat chicken once in a blue moon, although now my local Mr T has finally started selling different portions of free range chicken - including the whole ones... :T ...and they are cheaper than M&S free range...

...I'm hungry now... I think I'll try BBQ chicken next...yum yum

I love this expression, but wonder how happy they can be when they're reared to be killed
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

  • Hello all you lovely people. I don't post much I'm afraid don't normally have a lot to say. BUT this is such a brilliant thread. Thankyou for all your tips. Just have to say I'm only 2/3rds through this thread but I am hooked.
Sorry I can't reme mber who posted but a really good thing for weeds is vinegar and w u liquid in a spray. Takes a couple of days before you see the results but it really works. Word of warning though it will also kill grass.

Don't have many tips I'm afraid but am learning loads.
About the (poor) thing. I am now 59 and one of 15 (yes) 15 children. My poor mum struggled to give us as much as she could. I'm not sure where our clothes came from, probably older relatives but it wasn't that so much as beeing from such a large family that haunted me as a child. We were so looked down apon from my friends parents. However all my friends and my brothers and sisters friends all came to my mum for advice and help. I am and always have been so proud of my mum (she died 8yrs ago). I am not wealthy and don't ever expect to be, but thankfully my children (4 boys and 1 girl) have not been materialistic minded. My daughter of 14 who is the youngest favourite shop is Primark as is most of her friends.
Just thought I would get that off my chest as it brought back so many memories of my childhood.
Once again thanks for all the tips. I love reading them all. And will continue reading to catch up.

    My son is the same.
He won't eat homemade soup but if he knew what went into the shepherds pie and whizzed up into Sunday's gravy, he'd be living in McDonalds.:rotfl:

Yes, but if he knew what went into McDonalds he'd be home again double quick and probably turning veggie :rotfl:.
Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever :D
  • Small money saving. I went to the dentist today. I found a lucky penny on the steps and then a 2p so put the 3p in my bag. Then had to pay the dentist £45.60

Julie_D. You must be having the same problems as me! Thats exactly what my treatment is costing.

This is not penny saving, but money finding.

Poke your fingers in the coin reject hole when you walk past pay and display machines. I found £1.35 last week!!!
