oohh i haven't looked on this thread for a while, i was lamenting the £23 on toiletries my family went through last month, mainly shower gel and shampoo, i was convinced that they are using far too much and will give the decanting thing a go.........lol doesn't help 16yr old DS seems to think piranhas lurk in the bottom of a shower gel container and refuses to use the last 1/2 inch and Lynx brings me out in a rash :rotfl:
Simple..... just tip the piranahs into the new almost full bottle when no-one is looking, then they go on to live a long and fuller life !!Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -
I've just thought of something else - I've got four big ring binders and use those file divider thingys but sometimes after a lot of use the tab bit where you write what's in that section of the folder gets a bit torn and ripped and sometimes nearly comes off - well I got fed up with buying new file dividers and now I use address labels from the Post Office - I cut the label to the right size and stick it over the cardboard tab on both sides so it strengthens it and holds it on and it works a treat! Probably not a good thing if you need to look more professional but this is only for personal use so nobody sees it but me.
I use the address labels for loads of things and they are not all that expensive to buy. I cut them up and stick them on tubs of food that I'm about to freeze so I know what's in there, I also stick them on videos so I can write down what I've recorded on that tape."Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

Instead of those fiddly little hole reinforcer things, I use white labels and hole punch the paper. It sticks better too.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

the little empty plastic Benecol containers with their secure snap-on lids are also useful for travelling shampoos, as well as containing dried garden herbs, odd buttons, paperclips, screws, small amounts of surplus lemon juice. covering garden canes so they don't poke your eyes out when bending, etc. etc. I normally keep a container of cleaned empty ones as they always come in handy for something.
What a great idea! That'll go on to my shopping list tomorrow! :T0 -
I'vwe got a friend who lines the inside of her cupboards with paper as well (particularly the pan cupboards) to stop them getting destroyed. I saw some clear plastic on sale in Aldi the other day to do the job (not sticky back plastic, more like a sheet of fairly pliable stuff). It seems like a good idea.
I used my left over linoleum and cut it to fit my kitchen cupboards - especially the one with all the cleaning materials...so far so good...0 -
