  • Thank you very much for the ideas for tins. I think we've got to the recycling stage but I do like the idea of offering them on Freecycle first.

Another thing this site inspired me to start doing is to save small pots with lids (like the ones you get olives in at Mr T's) and filling them with stewed fruit to take to work. You could freeze them but I put a splot of yoghurt on them the night before and then just take them in as a cheap pud.
  • Hi everyone!

    few ideas here,
1/buy magazines on subscription, they are always far cheaper than getting them in the shops and you can either get them for a lot lower price or a lower price plus a presssie which can cost morw than the magazine:j

2/ when you do get magazines always check for money off coupons which you can use in store even for things you don't buy:p

3/ also in magazines look for free samples of anything from shampoo to foundation(ok maybe not one for the boys!) these are very useful for weekends away and using especialy on plane trips where you only have a bag onboard and all liquids are checked.

4/ still in magazines, you can often find money off coupons for clothes stores(esp the more expensive ones and also make up deals where you pay say £15 which is refundable off cosmetics and get a facial into the bargain

5/once you get a make over in a store(always free) don't buy the make up there but search online on one of the many online stores(just google the item you want) for massive savings

6/sign up for sites like Body shop and L'occitaine and look out for their special offers which are often much better than buying in store(just don't get carried away and spend more than you intend)

    hope these ideas help someone:beer:

  • It's me again more questions. I went to asda in killingbeck in leeds with some coupons to use but was told at the checkout they no longer take them against anything only the product on the coupon. Has anyone else found this? Iwas going to put the equivalent ammount into the sealed jar!!!

My local T and S will only take coupons where the item has been purchased and it's been like that for as long as I can remember.

And dont forget to buy you sub through cashback like TCB etc. Also look for special offers like 3 for a £1 but beware that a lot of magazines dont send the 'free' gift with a subsciption (prima etc)

We buy a tray of minced beef from the supermarket. Then we split it into three bags before freezing. We then add chopped mushroom or onion to each bag to bulk out the mince. A tray that used to do two meals now does three!
