It's scarier than that! - it means I know where you are!:D and was once there, too.
Maybe I'm a wellie - I've bounced back often enough.

Have been reading all the tips with interest whilst batch cookingand knitting for my next great niece/ nephew. It is absolutely great when I pluck up courage will enter my debts etc but am still trying to come to terms with it all and my situation.Walked home from the village yesterday, (couldn't afford busfare), looking for roadkill! Times are hard didn't find a penny so didn't have anything to put into sealed jar
my tip for saving pennies is to swing sauce bottle in a circle holding bottom, making sure lid is tight, sauce comes down to the neck so not wasteing a drop.

Sorry to all the vegetarians and bunny lovers out there, you sound like your rural, have you got a friendly land keeper or neighbour who could give you some rabbit or pigeon or better still borrow an air rifleThe Grass may look greenerbut it`s always going to take just as much mowing

Hi yes salt dough is very easy but I always add a little bit of wallpaper paste/PVA glue to 1 cup of plain flour, 1/2 cup salt. It makes the mixture more pliable to roll. Salt dough can baked in the oven on a very low temp or left in a warm airing cupboard to dry.
Edited to say forgot my manners so here is a :T :T :T :T :T BIG NannaC WELCOME to beachbuffy0 -
I miss having a Nanna
I don't know if anyone has said this before, but if we have had a casserole and there is some nice gravy left, I take it to work and eat it like soup.
However, I always freeze it (in the bowl I am taking) overnight so that it doesn't leak into my bag on the way in0 -

Adult potties would hardly be a new idea - they were always known as 'guzunders' cos they went under the bed until needed
I never put the light on when visiting the loo at night, but that's because it would wake me up too much but then I don't have stairs to negotiate. Money saving is great, but health and safety come firstI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I've had the heating turned off since last Thursday... house is plenty warm enough and gets a boost of heat from cooking in the evening anyway. After a lovers tiff a week ago when I pointed out to dear fiance that I've done all the laundry since we moved into our house in November, he's pulled his finger out and put a few loads on and hung them... on the radiators! Clearly hasn't noticed the change in temperature, daren't tell him the heating is off he'll start believing its cold and turn it back on again.
Also I got caught blending the gravy and vegetable left-overs of a stew the other afternoon... he's said his lunch time soup will never be the same now he knows I didn't make it to be soup in its first form!
Patchwork Quilt - me too... I freeze soup for the next day, after a messy spill in a cloth bag. Looked like someone had vomited in it! Never got the stain out and the sequins fell off in the washing process!0 -

if your interested in game and live in the country maybe try to find out if there are any air rifle or gun clubs nearby. You could volunteer to help them out for the day in exchange of a rabbit or 2. might be better than picking up road killOr as someone else suggested, see if any local gamekeepers ever have spare game. Air rifles can be quite expensive, it might be worth enquiring with your nearest club about wether they have rifles to hire and you can shoot your own.
(im also sorry to all the veggies and animal lovers out there! This way of getting meat is better than alot of others though so!)0 -

People are brilliant so you know there will be some great help when you feel able - I know it's far from easy but now you have started posting you are part way there already.plsplshelpme wrote: »Walked home from the village yesterday, (couldn't afford busfare), looking for roadkill! I've been known to microwave remnants of jam (minus metal lid of course) in order to get a spreadable amount out of what my family thinks is an empty jar: warming things up often helps get the last out but I just think your method sounds fab!
I think people in general are getting better at picking up pennies but better luck next time.
P.S. Have you seen this thread?Miggy

But if you are tempted to do the same thing with a jar of Rowse honey.... think twice !!!
Even minus the metal lid - the label on the jar is metal and so sparks fly about inside your microwave :eek::eek::eek::eek:
Yes I tried it the other day without thinking about the label :rolleyes:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
