sure! but you'll have to weigh a cup of sesame seeds for me
Been thinking a bit more about ceridwen's point about using things as food which could've been waste. My friend just gave me some broad beans in the pod. So I shelled them, and ended up with 160g of broad beans, cool! enough for 2 people!
Then I looked at the mound of shells, about twice the size of the shelled beans... Interesting. And I know they are edible, I've just never done it. Boiled up a little piece in ome lightly salted water. Tasted. They're ok. Probably not a veg I'd just eat a plateful of, but definately gonna be good in a curry!
So I have a broad bean and pod curry, with lentils sitting in my slo-cooker as I type. I'll report back with how it tastes!:money:

Hi there glad folks are liking the bagels..i think they are much better than even the expensive shop ones :T
When i do the bagels I wrap the sausage of dough around a herb/spice jar dusted with flour and then pinch the seam and roll it off the jar... my first batch i had a couple threaten to come apart but now im a bit more heavy handed with them and they are fine..
I wonder if dabbing a little water on each end before pinching would make them almost glue together?-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
A friend has just given me a big bunch of Basil will I be able to freeze some of it
I froze some when I had a pot and dd addded it to her hm heese & herb ravioli last week. It was delicious. It took her 3 hours to do the pasta, fill with stuffing and make a fresh tomato sauce. I had gone to Chester with german friend, we arrived home to dinnner all ready and waiting. Marvellous! It doesn't do 'em any harm to see that food sometimes takes a while!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Roasted whole spicy chick peas serves 2 as a film watching snack...

1 Tbspn veg oil 0.6p
salt to taste
1 tsp. ground cumin

This sounds lovely Weezl. I'm here alone tonight. DH is away walking with his buddies and the kids are at the folk festival. My lover is unavailable so just me for dinner. Have had a fab afternoon (dropped dd at lunchtime) mooching at bookshops etc, with no time constraints, was wondering what I was going to do to accompany the veggies that I have here for dinnner. It was going to be a piece of salmon, but compared to spicy chickpeas that seems relatively boring..
off to get the chickpeas from the freezer."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

A good point that you've both raised. I was thinking along the same lines myself when I'd just bought a huge pineapple reduced to 19p and had only the outer skin left.
I was thinking 'I'm a celebrity, get me out of here' and the fact they would have never wasted anything so I boiled the skin up and let it cool. When frozen it made delicious lollies for free.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

:eek:Ah, purpleivy, perhaps I should've said, they come out the texture and dryness of dry-roasted peanuts, hence having them as a snack! I don't know whether you'd thank me if you had them with veg instead of a lovely piece of salmon!! You could cook them for less long and make a yoghurty sauce tho, that might be nomnomnom!

Well - that one certainly had me wondering. It took a bit of googling to find out whether theres any websites indicating pineapple skin is edible.
I managed to find a mention of making cordial with pineapple skin - leaving it overnight soaking in water and sugar - so I guess that what you did was something similar to that?0 -
