    Hi guys!:hello:
Good morning.sFun_mornincoffee.gif There I go with my personal opinions again!rolleyes.gifsLo_grouphug.gif
And a very warm welcome to alleycat! Come on in hunnie!sLo_hug2.gif

I've missed some grand landark dates this month through the lack of tiffing. For example, (and yes they are real days),...
    - the Californian Poppy Festival was held on the 12th April in Lancaster, California, (surprise, surprise),
    - it was the World Cow-Chip Throwing Championship in Beaver, Oklahoma,on the 18th April,(sorry if you're eating brekkie),
    - there was the Landing Day Of The 33 Orientales in Uruguay on the 19th April,(answers to sazzy on a postage stamp please),
    ...
BUT, for a certain person in our clan, today is the start of a very special 'holiday'...
Oooh katieeeeeee...National Karaoke Week begins today!:j
Us cats love a good sing-song as you can see...rolleyes.gifbiggrin.gif

    Hi fg!:hello:
    How are you hun?
As you can see, I've grouped your posts together fg, to make it easier to reply. Lets have a look hun...
    fg wrote:
Anyone know how I can get a private pysch? Got funds sorted, just need to find a Pyschiatrist now. Any ideas?
Forgive the personal question angel, but can you comfortably afford a private psych? The reason I ask is that you can actually change the NHS psych you've got, if you don't feel any benefit from them. Write a letter to the consultant's manager and the Trust's Practice Director/Manager, stating that you feel that your sessions with DR.X are detrimental to your mental ill health recovery and that you would ask to be transferred to another NHS psych. This works - I've done it - and it's made an enormous difference to me! As with anything else, you have the right to complain if you're not happy with your treatment - even in mental health fields. Also, is she a psychiatrist or a psychologist,fg?
I popped down to the Tiff archives and found some hopefully useful info for you, hun. I found the following from the Royal College Of Psychiatrists website...

    http://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/mentalhealthinformation/faqs/howtogethelp.aspx
    and
    http://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/mentalhealthinformation/therapies/cognitivebehaviouraltherapy.aspx
How can I see a psychiatrist?
To see a psychiatrist, you will need to visit a GP (general practitioner) in order to get a referral, in the same way you would with any other specialist.

    fg wrote:
I asked about getting CBT privately and she told me she wasn't allowed to recommend anyone
Can you give me a list of psychiatrists?
In order to find a psychiatrist, you should ask your GP or local healthcare trust. You can obtain lists of nearby doctors' surgeries and your local healthcare trusts by contacting the NHS.
How can I see a psychiatrist privately?
Your GP may hold a list of psychiatrists who practice privately. Alternatively, you can contact private healthcare providers or psychiatric clinics directly to make an appointment. Some psychiatrists may advertise themselves in your local yellow pages. If they have the title 'MRCPsych' (Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists) or FRCPsych (Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists), this means that they are current members of the College.
How can I find out what speciality a psychiatrist is trained in?
You can search for their details on the Medical Register (a directory of all doctors practicing in the UK), by visiting the General Medical Council website.
    fg wrote:
I have a pysch on the NHS, but don't really get on with her due to her opinions on addiction/eating disorders.
What do I do if I am unhappy with my psychiatrist?
Everyone is entitled to a second opinion, so you need to ask your GP, or your psychiatrist, to refer you to another psychiatrist for a second opinion.
    fg wrote:
She recommended therapy, but can't have it on NHS. Seeing as I need to get therapy privately, jsut wanted to check I've got the right diagnosis/medication.
From BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies) at
    http://www.babcp.com/
    How to get help?
First step - Discuss the problem with your doctor. They will be able to advise you on access to local resources and refer you on if appropriate.

    Where to get CBT?
Many CBT practitioners work in the NHS. (Thought so - I got it!confused-smiley-013.gif) However, some areas still have limited resources. Also, some practitioners provide CBT privately. You can find a BABCP accredited therapist who works privately by clicking this link. Please note that other practitioners offering CBT may be registered by other reputable bodies.
There is even a search link on this site for finding private psychiatrists and their specialities.
    fg wrote:
Yeah I think I'm just going to have to pick a random therapist and hope for the ebst!
I can appreciate you thinking that the yellow pages as lita suggested, may not be the best route for you. Personally, I'd rather consult my gp and find one whose methods and reputation are known to your gp, who also knows you. But that's just me, angel.wink.gif There's nothing wrong with asking for a second opinion fg but you also have to be receptive to the feedback the doctors give us. If you disagree, discuss it with them. And of course, the MIND website is usually worth a visit hun, at
    http://www.mind.org.uk/Information/

I hope this helps a little fg - safe journeys.sLo_hug2.gif

Had a better day yesterday till my son mentioned some itchy spots he has - he needs to get them checked out but he thinks it is scabies:eek: They sound horrendous. He is in a separate flat to us but in the same building. We have spent time down there, so fingers crossed we are OK, I don't have the same spots, neither does my OH. It could be something else so waiting till Monday when we can make an appointment. He does have a cat but has had him for 9 months, so would have had symptoms of cat allergy before now. He left his skanky place 6 weeks ago to live with us in Scotland and lives with us down south now since mid March/early April.

    Back to our nice day

We went to Lymington market, went to places from my childhood, eastern New Forest, saw the Fawley refinery:D and the liner in Southampton dock. What contrasts, lovely forest, yachts on the sea, and a refinery. I hope they don't strike in sympathy with Grangemouth - it is so funny seeing on the TV just now (hope the Scottish guys are OK up there just now with petrol shortages).

Drove round Bournemouth after having a lovely dinner - was a nice warm day and could have the top down:). Lymington has such a positive vibe and remember this from my childhood - I even ate a teacake at the cafe I used to goto - they used to be 5p, now it is £1.70:eek: and bought some aniseed balls and sweet nuts - they tasted just as good too:)

Got woken by thunder this morning
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:

Have a nice evening everyone,I am watching Dr Who later with the lovely David Tennent.

    Katie xxx
now hes much better than that jeremy vile, oops,i mean kyle:o ...nowt agin a scots accent but i like him better when hes in his character dialect.ds is mad on dr who and theres absolute silence for 50 ish mins on sat nite.....i wonder if i could get it on loop:rotfl:[/quote]
I think David Tennent rocks - have liked him since 1995 in Taking Over the Asylum - he played a really great inmate. I find the 'English' accent he used in Dr Who rather odd, what is wrong with a Scottish Dr Who?
