    hi,

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Lady M - it sounds like you have dermatitis or maybe even exema (sp) which can be induced by stress/anxiety. I get it bad on my hands when im get anxious over a long period. You should go to the Dr as its very treatable.

    Heya hun.

That's what I thought it could be. I was going to ask here what people thought but I thought my posts might be deleted because medical advice is prohibited.lol. I used to have very bad eczema as a child on my knees, elbows, hands, a lot of places but then it got slightly better but whenever I'm stressed it starts to come back a tiny bit on my elbows so I think you're right about it being caused by stress and because I get stressed very easily, that's most likely why the scalp problem never seems to go away.lol. I'm going to the doctors next Tuesday anyway so I'll ask her about it then. :)

    Thanks hun.

    xx

I'm new to these forums and only found this thread tonight so thought i'd post..
Though not sure what details to give etc - maybe someone could give me a heads up before i try to read through the 88 previous posts to see how this thread works..

    Thanks in advance..
What came first, the music or the misery? Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?

Heya Maverick33, and welcome to the thread.

I'm Anni, but some people call me Morticia. The choice is yours. :)

Basically this thread is for people with depression (or any other mental health problems) to support eachother and meet other people who won't judge them. Feel free to post as much or as little as you like. :) Sometimes we just talk about random things too e.g. TV, music etc, anything really.

With regards to depression etc, you can give as many or as little detail as you like. Whatever you feel comfortable giving is okay, and if you don't feel comfortable giving any detail, then that is okay too. :)

I think most people have gone to bed now but everyone will be sure to welcome you in the morning. :). We're all a lovely bunch here.

    xx

P.s. Welcome to the forums. :)

Hi Anni / Morticia - tell me which you prefer ?

Thanks for the welcome & explanation, i didn't expect a reply tonight - but i'm pretty much an insomniac so hung around incase..

Well a brief summary of my condition..
I've been suffering from depression & anxiety for a couple of years now - it maybe be even longer but never thought i was depressed until my Doctor said i was.. I've been unable to attend work for the past 12 months, though i'm hoping to return within the next 3 months - though at the moment i'm not sure how realistic that is..
I've pretty much become a social recluse & only really go out when i need shopping or have appointments with GP's etc.. I don't have any family or friend support so find it difficult living day to day alone.. As i said above i've pretty much become an insomniac so it's 24/7 at the moment which doesn't help..

That should do for starters - hopefully people can advise & happy to give extra info if needed..

People here generally call me Anni or Lady M so whichever is fine by me. I'm a very indecisive person.lol., so whichever takes your fancy is cool. :)

I'm an insomniac too. I always say I'm going to bed but the trouble lies in not being able to sleep so I spend a lot of my time on here. I'm pretty much around most of the time. :)

I also suffer from depression and anxiety (although the doctors are still not sure if the depression stands alone or is part of my BPD), so I understand how hard it can be.
If you don't mind me asking, what led you to go to the doctor? Did you just know that something wasn't right? I don't know what the relationship with your doctor is like but my doctor and I have a really good relationship, so I can tell her almost everything. It took a lot of seeing different doctors to find a nice one.
Are you on any meds? If you are, do you find they help?

I'm sorry you were/are unable to attend work. Did you enjoy your job? Don't push yourself to go back in 3 months time if you are not ready. Your health comes first. :)

I have agoraphobia and anxiety so I only go out when I have to, and even then I get scared out of my wits, so I do somewhat understand. Do you ever get anxious when you are around other people? Is that why you like staying in, or do you just not like to be in social situations? I'm sorry for the questions. I'm an inqusitive person. :)

I'm sorry to hear that you don't have any support from friends or family. Is there a local MIND branch near you? The one here holds drop ins for people with mental health problems to meet and socialise. I go usually twice a week under doctors orders and sometimes it helps and calms me down a bit. Of course, everyone is different though, and whether it would help really depends on why you like staying in as if you get panicky etc then maybe jumping in head first isn't a good idea. :)

Do you have any hobbies? Sometimes doing things we're interested in can take our minds off of things for a while, or leave us invigorated. I know that writing and photography does that sometimes for me.
That should do for starters - hopefully people can advise & happy to give extra info if needed..
I'm sure everyone else will give loads more advice and many more welcomes in the morning. :) And even if some people can't advise, we'll always support. :)

    xx
