Really quick and easy/alternative snacks?

Hi all,

I'm pregnant at the moment obviously it's very important to be eating regularly - but I'm struggling a bit as I'm never very strict with myself and tend to go for ages, suddenly realise I'm hungry and then feel too sick to make myself any food. I'm not working at the moment so it's just me in the house. I was just thinking if I could make something quick to eat or if I had some snacky type bits in the house I could munch on it would keep me going long enough to cook an omelette or something. We used to keep apples in the house which were great to munch on while I made myself something to eat but we hardly have anything at the moment - mainly due to OH being the only one with a car but insisting he is too tired after work to do a weekly shop with me. I have tried walking to the shops and back but it takes about 3 times as long as usual due to my joints being all loose and we live on the 3rd floor with no lift so the thought of the stairs makes me quake and I can only really manage about 4 bags of shopping if I really try.

Sorry to moan and sound so pathetic!

When I fancy a quick snack I have a few cream crackers with Primula cheese squirted on. No need for butter. Are pregnant women allowed Primula-type soft cheese? I would think so as it is just cream cheese in a tube, rather than a brie-type of thing.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Thanks, those sound great, will have to go shopping this afternoon!

I'm not sure which kinds of cheeses are allowed, only pasteurised ones I think but I can't eat cheese anyway because I am allergic to it!

Mugshots (dried pasta) are a quick cup-a-soup snack - just need to boil a kettle. Sugar free jelly (from packets of crystals) made up into small portions is nice to snack on. I think some people freeze grapes and you could take out a few at a time?

do asda or tesco deliver to you? you can normally find delivery codes and money off vouchers...i have never paid for a delivery yet! in your current condition online shopping sounds a good idea.
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p
Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money

Tescos do and we have had a delivery before... it does seem the best option but I could never find the codes and I heard somewhere you were supposed to get free delivery if it was over £50 but I never got it...maybe I was wrong about that!

  • Hiya,

Might wanna check with your midwife on the nuts. One of the lasses in my office was gutted to find she's not allowed her daily snickers now she's pregnant...

Water biscuits and oatcakes are great snacks, alone or with cheese and pickle
Cheese on toast is quick and tasty
Make a batch of soup one day when you're feeling better and freeze in portions. Then nuke as needed?

Hope you find something which takes your fancy in all these posts! Edit: obviously not the cheese!! Sorry!!!
