i'm trying to connect virgin broadband to a rusty old windows 98 laptop. any ideas how i can connect it up? i've got it all plugged in but don't know how to connect it. :-(

Don't think it will work with Windows 98 - the minimum spec should be on the Virgin website somewhere.:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

yeah it does say you need windows 2000 i just wondered if there was a way round it and they were just saying that as a disclaimer.0

DANN. after doing that and messing around i got onto the virginmedia activation site and it says i need a recent version of windows. i can't do any more can i? baring in mind i can't download anything which isn't via my phone. (which is where i'm typing this from.)0 -

If you've got a Linux Live CD, such as Ubuntu, you can connect to the web with Virgin.
No need for a Virgin install disc, just make sure that your ethernet is connected before you boot from the Live CD. Ubuntu should just 'see' it . No need to install Ubuntu.
I'm only suggesting this as a temporary measure till you upgrade your Windows - or install Linux.

Not familiar with the activation process, how did you get there?
Can you borrow a laptop to set it up?
