Morning All,
Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes (and cake rog2:D ).
Ok, some updating to do.
I'll get the bad news out of the way first so i can finish on a positive. Went to auctions yesterday to see my van finally sell. Checked on line whilst on holiday (sorry taxi, I know i said i wouldn't:o ) and it was definitely listed for yesterdays sale. Bought a catalogue when i got there to see where it was in the sale, and surprise surprise, it wasn't there:mad:
Went to the office to ask why and the woman dealing with me took my reg number then her face dropped, then a manager came to speak to me.
Very nonsulently (sp?) he said "oh yes, it's booked in for next weeks sale mate"
I tried my hardest to keep my voice down but politely pointed out that this van has been with them for nearly a month now and should have been sold by now. His reasoning was that as there was so many vans in (350) me being a private vendor, would mean that mine would go in after all these "company/ex lease" vans so would not get much interest and get a crap price. Fair enough, and yes I do see the reasoning, but !!!!!!, couldn't they have rung me:mad:
I have been GUARANTEED that it will be in next Tuesdays auction come rain, hail or high water, so this time i will be ringing up on Monday morning to make double sure.
Thing is i was expecting to have a nice cheque for about 3 grand which was going to pay the bills before i started earning from my driving. Now I am really living up to my name and ITBS. Had to cancel mortgage DD to avoid charges and cocked all my other bills up too.
Anyway, whats done is done, nothing I can do about it now.
The good news is that the licensing office has been in touch and i can definitely be a taxi driver, I was worried about 2 silly convictions from when i was 18 which showed on my CRB check, but they have told me these are fine:j
I have bought a first aid kit off ebay for £11, much cheaper than in the shops (need it for the taxi)
Looking for a fire extinguisher on there today for the taxi too.
I'm off to the scrapyards today trying to find 17" spare wheels for my Vectra:rotfl: :rotfl:
Also going to look in to getting my signs made up.
Just my medical to go on Friday, then my car needs to be tested, hopefully going to book that in today for Monday.
THE REALLY GOOD NEWS NOW.......
Remember the busiest taxi company that put me on their list......
They have an opening for me:j :j :j
Going in today to see them re my data head/meter.
I'll be on the road soon earning some money at last.
Hope everyone is ok.0 -
bah to the auction and the resultant financial hiccup it creates,
but :j :j :j :j :j to the taxi firm coming up trumps!!

Arrgggghhhh,
Got loads sorted yesterday. Managed to book my taxi in for its test tomorrow morning at 8.30. Bought a fire extinguisher off ebay that only ended up costing £7, they gave me a £10 paypal voucher:D dont know why, but not complaining. My weights bennch sold for £110 and was collected last night, no messing around.
Got my door signs made up only cost £13 with the no smoking eatin drinking stickers too, so thought that was good.
Now for the bad news.
My vectra has 17" alloy wheels, the spare must be the same size wheel, but doesnt need to be an alloy. Trawled all the scrappys and even went to Vauxhall themselves. Guess what...... they dont do a 17" steel rim:mad:
To cut a long story short I have to get some 16 " wheels. i have just bought a set off ebay for £125, still need to get a spare though but will be much easier to get a 16" steel rim.
Only picking these up at 5 tonight so had to cancel the test. Absolutely gutted, hoped to be out this weekend to make a killing. Test now rebooked for tuesday morning 8.30.
At least it leaves me the weekend to sort the car out and put all my stuff on ebay (including a set of nice 17" alloys:cool: ).
Will update later re the wheels, hope everyone is ok.
Taxi, bet you cant wait for cuba.........0 -
