Good news mate. I am just in for my dinner. The Rangers game is on and I am so tempted to sit in and watch it. You are putting me to shame with your progress so I will be going back out to finish the shift. Well done again.£2 coin/ £460

Thanks for the congratulations everyone.
This exam was soooo much harder than the first one, good job I revised eh:p
BTM, I can never put you to shame, remember it was your diary that inspired me to go down this route:beer:
The tests are passed now, I have the qualifications so now before I can get on the road I need the criminal records check to come back, get a medical form signed(£58) this then gets me licensed as a private hire driver, then I need to get my car tested and badged, get insurance then I'm on the road.:D
Chased the CRB today (ha, impatient aren't I) They have received the forms and are waiting for the police records from the PNC. I did manage to get an online tracking number though so I can check the progress on line to save ringing up every day.
Bids on the stuff I have on ebay so thats good news.
Paid off a speeding fine I got at court last month (£270:eek:  ). Thought better to do it now before it gets worse. Good thing was I put it on my old business credit card. Well, I'm liable for all the debt on it anyway so it doesn't really matter what it's spent on i will end up paying it anyway as I cant write it off when my old company gets wound up. This way it wont eat in to the money I have now(very little:o). Charged the £150 for the course to this today too!!!
While checking my old business account online business rates have took out £80 business rates. I told them I ceased trading months ago:mad: Phoned them up, they apologised, said there were notes on account and guess what, I'm due a refund, in my personal name, to my personal address as I am no longer at the offices. Should be at least £150:j
Just sent the landlord of the offices an email for my bond back too, another few quid coming my way (£400 once he deducts last months rent).
All this money will help me out while I am waiting to start on the road.
Posted the letter off to the car hp people. Read it through and through and it doesn't alter the terms of the original HP agreement so I can still voluntarily terminate the agreement once I've paid half (which I will be doing but I may as well use the car while I will be liable for half the HP payments anyway)
Feel like I have come so far since my original post on the bankruptcy board. Thanks again to everyone here, and my "subscribers":p
And finally...........
Positive things done today:
1)Passed Exam
2)Phoned and got refund sorted from business rates
3)Sent email to landlord for bond back
4)Sent off letter confirming reduced payments for next 6 months on other car0 -
Hiya, well done with passing the exam.
I missed your original post, but can i assume that you have taken this course to obtain the required qualification to become a taxi driver - if so, whats the course called?
Also, will this be your full time job?
Well done again and all the best.Smile!0 -
Hi,
The course is called "Transporting passengers by taxi and private hire" and comes with a BTEC level 2 qualification. Yes this will be my full time job.
Apparently the course is being rolled out nationally. Existing drivers dont have to do it but new drivers, or those who have let their license expire, are being asked to do it in the areas running the course.
The course costs £150 or £10 if you are in receipt of benefits, this was in the North West and may vary depending on where you are.
Hope this helps.0 -
Hi
Just came across your thread and had to read it from start to finish. Really is inspirational, I am in the 'brown stuff' as it were and have been thinking how to make some extra cash to help clear these debts, and you have really given me food for thought. Well done on passing the exam

Hi mate(could nt find your thread until now)
First and foremost congratulations on passing your exam:beer:
The one comment im seeing on your thread time and time again is how inspiring your attitude and drive to getting on with all this is...so bloody true and well done
Im definately interested in the idea but as you ll see from my thread i ve got alot to sort out just now and moneys way too hand to mouth just now.(being honest the real biggy for me is being self employed and frankly if that meant selling burgers out a van on the high street id be just as happy as long as it was for my family and me; but the private cabs is definately appealing(the black cabs in edinburgh get plenty business but im sure theres room for more private cabs as edinburghs so stretched out)
Anyways best of luck and im really looking forward to following your progress
