Ha ha it does read like that doesn't it?
Right, many thanks for all your help. Ingredients have been weighed & machine has been on for about 20 mins. I'm trying to cut down the amount of time I keep checking on the dough through the window (once every 2 mins at the moment) and fingers crossed it's edible. I'll find out about 10.15 I guess............

Sorry for coming late to the thread - I just realised that I have the same model!
The big cup is American as stated and is 8 fl oz, it should also have a tablespoon, teaspoon and 1/4 tea spoon measure as well.
Hope this helpsThe quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -
Well I'm sure you're all on the edge of your seats waiting to hear how it turned out........not very well actually. Despite all advice given I obviously got the measurements wrong and the bread didn't rise very well, was far too crusty & crispy and took about 10 mins to get out of the bowl because it had stuck to the sides, the bottom and to the paddle. I'm a bit gutted really as had to tear it apart to get it out and it just looks pathetic.
I guess I'll just have to stick to bread mixes that I add water to until my cup turns up
Should I have greased the bowl? Will my bread always get stuck on the paddle and have to be prized out?0 -
I've found that multiple sets of cups are invaluable because by the time you've done a cup for water and a cup for this and a cup for that, you're either washing up the whole time or contaminating the next set of ingredients. Also I always use a half-cup to get into the flour packet, it's easier than trying to get a whole cup in and out. But you have to count carefully, I've sometimes lost count and ended up with very wet bread.
Also the most common water measure seems to be 1 cup plus 1 tbsp or something daft like that, so I checked what that was on my big measuring jug and concluded it was a bare 300 ml. Whatever your most common measurement is, that might be worth checking!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Forgot that bit! Yeah, grease the bowl and paddle.0 -

When though Smudge? At the beginning of the process?0 -
With my breadmaker I had to put in some oil first and let it 'bake the oil' for a bit. Then I had to clean out the pan and the paddle. I did this when I first got the breadmaker and every loaf slides out with ease.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Yeah - I tried greasing the paddle just before adding the ingredients and it didn't help at all - the mixing wipes it all off.

Have you got the instructions for you machine Ruby?
If not they are VERY specific about the stuff going in in the right order, also the paddle on these is a fairly tight fit and you have to make sure the shaft is perfectly clean. You should be able to manage without the measures though as 1 cup is 8fl oz (not packed down just scoop and level off with a knife
If you get stuck here are the destructions for it :-
