  • Have you got the instructions for you machine Ruby? If not they are VERY specific about the stuff going in in the right order, also the paddle on these is a fairly tight fit and you have to make sure the shaft is perfectly clean. You should be able to manage without the measures though as 1 cup is 8fl oz (not packed down just scoop and level off with a knife

I have got the instructions for it but I guess I just didn't follow them exactly - although I thought I had to be honest. I certainly put them in the right order I know that.

I think that in my haste I didn't take the time to oil the bowl like I should have - I have no idea when it was last used and I should have had the common sense to treat it as a new machine. I've ordered a new cup and spoon thing from MR and they should arrive next week and in the meantime I'm going to use bread mixes with the dough function only and finish them off in the oven.

    Ruby,

I had one of the MR breadmakers and mine was extremely termpermental!

I could not deviate from their recipes in exact weights and measures and order of putting stuff in. If I did the bread was gruesome. The same with mix bread packets (hopeless) - and one time I tried recipe for bm off a bread flour packet - Whooo - total disaster!!

Also my bread was vergeing on dark brown, whichever colour crust I chose!!

Lets hope you get the hang of yours and have many happy bmaking moments :)

Since I got my Panasonic bm, I have had only one failure, and I still cant figure out what I did wrong! I made a great pizza dough the other night.

  • Goodness, I'm glad I only paid £20 for it if it's going to be a pain in the butt - still, if it helps me in the dough making process and does the odd bit of jam it'll be worth it I guess

Could you contact Morphy Richards and expain the problems you are having (with a hardly used machine) and see if they will exchange it for you.

Mine is brilliant - but still had a disaster with bread yesterday as it was such hot weather.

Haven't had a single problem with my MR Fastbake. Which reminds me....I think its time to bake some more rolls....well, when I get home that is.

How massively cheeky would that be though :D I didn't even buy it in the first place and I doubt my friend would have kept any of the paperwork.

I really think it was down to me that the bread came out like it did - I obviously did something wrong. I'm not going to give up though, will keep trying until I get it right!! :)
