MR Fastbake 48280

I'm sure that this question has come up before - and been answered - but for some reason my search facility won't work this morning so I apologise for asking it again.

I've just bought a 2 year old MR Fastbake 48280 from a work colleague for £20 (they've only used it twice - I couldn't get it off them fast enough :D) but they've lost the cup or used it for something else. Anyway, I've had a quick look at the manual on the website and the measurements all seem to be in that cup - no grammes or ounces given.

Could some kind soul who has one of these please let me know what the cup measurement equates to so I can measure out the ingredients on my scales.

PS Just how vital is it to use skimmed milk powder??

    Hi I don't know what all the measurments equate to but you can purchase a replacement cup on the Morphy Richards site for £1.63 with free P&P. Hope this helps. I need to get a replacement jug for my coffee machine and found it then.

    PS Just how vital is it to use skimmed milk powder??

    I always leave out the skimmed milk powder - I found it made the bread taste like cake! Also, I always cut down the sugar for the same reason. 1 spoonful less.

    I have one of these that I am just about to sell as I now have a new one so when I get home I will measure out a cup of flour and weigh it and get back to you this evening with the grammes/ounces info. (At work at the moment!)

    Brilliant - thank you! On Misty's advice I have ordered a replacement cup from MR but I'm NEVER going to last 7 days without trying out my new toy so any help in the meantime would be fantastic :D

    It's definitely worth doing. Takes 3 minutes to prepare once you're used to it, and tastes lovely. Cheese n onion bread and italian herb bread are lovely too!

    If you have a measuring jug, you can use that: 1 cup = 240mls

    I use a lot of American recipes and found it was easier to give in and learn to cook by volume rather than weight when I use them. :p

    To work out a cup by volume - which is the way it works...

    Put a glass on your scales and add water until the scales show 240 grams. Stick some tape onto the side of the glass at the water level.

    Empty and dry the glass.

    If you fill with flour up to the tape mark - THAT is one cup.

  • I bought a set of cups a few months ago for about a fiver (Lakeland comes up trumps again). There's various fractions from 1/4 to 1 cup and I find they're often a lot quicker and easier than faffing around with scales. They're also very useful when making American recipes printed off the internet, which tend to be in cups.

    Hi Ruby,

    I have just got home and done the weighing. The empty cup weighs 25g. Full of strong white bread flour it weighs 195g, therefore one cup full weighs 170g.
