Well I did my first spot of invigilating today, well it was training really, just watching what the other invigilators did.
So who won the "who blinks first" game of invigilators going in opposite directions down the same aisle?

It can make "Rebel without a cause" look tame when played seriously by hardened teachers :rotfl:.

My Dad is seventy and does invigilating at the high school where my sister teaches. Fab for him, a bit of extra cash to top up the pension and gets to have lunch with his youngest (either prior or after working).

Who checks the exams after the tests is it the teachers or do they employ people to do it. I wandered if they employ people to do them if they possibly could be completed from home.

It would be highly unlikely that you could do any exam related work from home as there are very strict guidelines in place regarding exam papers.

I have been an invigilator for about two years now and the exam papers must always be kept under lock and key until they are sent off to the exam board.

Anyone can be an invigilator, but in my experience there are a lot of mistakes that are made by people who think it is an 'easy' job.

The school I'm at has past students on their books of invigilators, they do it when they have finished uni at the end of May, so give it a try.

:D "rebel without a cause" ? c'mon, you've got to elaborate for those of us not in the know, pretty please!!
  • Im going to do some exam invigilating on Monday, its the first time ive done it and not sure what to expect.

I assume I will hand out papers face down, make sure theres an answer book on every desk, check for cheating, hand out paper if required. Check for cheating and show people the toilet ?

    Also any tips?
  • If you are invigilating at a school or college you shuld be provided with training and a booklet on the day explaining what you are expected to do during the examination.

If you are not provided with this information and an exams inspector comes into the school/college the Examinations Officer will be in seriuous trouble! opefully there will be more expereinced invigilators or other staff with you on the day.

Papers are handed out face up.
