Overly aggressive? He bought something, they took his money, and then they didn't supply it. Why shouldn't he get annoyed about that?
Some of the other posters here are well out of order. The OP has done absolutely nothing wrong, other than draw attention to a clear and outright breach of contract by a trader. None of you know anything about what impact this might have.
What if the item was a present? What if it was needed to a timescale? What about any interest charges that might accrue while ebuyer have this guys money?
Even if none of those things apply, this is still outrageous. Would anyone here be happy to accept this sort of service? It is unbelievable that a retailer of the size of ebuyer can be so incompetent, and then have people mock the victim of that incompetence.
Never said he shouldn't be annoyed but I do believe a comment of " They are shady, charalatan bar stewards who couldn't organise a drinking contest in a brewery" is somewhat unwarranted in this situation.
I have had the very same thing happen to me on an order I made with Debenhams a while back, I wasn't happy about it but I DID accept that mistakes happen. Ebuyer made an error, contacted the buyer and refunded the money. What else could they do? Mistakes happen, not one company will get things right all the time.
I don't believe any comment I have made has mocked the OP, closest was my comment of "Mistake do happen..." which is a statement, nothing more, nothing less.Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.0 -

One where people stand up for big companies interests over those of consumers apparently.
And Amalea, never said it was you.0 -
Squiffy, I too am baffled by the lack of support* I am getting for this. Not that any is needed, I'm not demanding compensation or anything, just wanted to vent my frustrations of a company I thought were at the least, competent, and at best, respected their customers not to sell items on that have already been bought. I expected a different reaction on a forum dedicated to consumer rights and getting the best deal.
Having got over the initial anger of having to explain to my client why the spec of the computer won't be to the exact spec requested, I'm now more interested in how ebuyer's systems work. More out of morbid curiosity because I won't be using them again.
*a nice way of saying, "being mocked"0 -
As I understand it, Ebuyer's stock levels show what is available at the time of order. However, it's only as the orders in the queue get processed that the amount available goes down so, if for example the stock shows 10 but there are already 10 orders ahead of you there will be no stock left by the time your's is due to be picked. I don't no why Ebuyer are saying that they made a mistake. It's always been that way as far as I know. Frustrating to say the least!0

So they KNOWINGLY mis-represent their stock levels to secure customer orders, and then take customers money before confirming they can supply the goods?
Blimey, so the situation is even worse than reported by the OP and it isn't just a simple error - it is part of the system they developed. Ebuyer definitely need to be shamed into taking action to resolve this.0
